When you notice you're no longer checking out the hot son on a tv programme or film but the hot dad instead

What other landmarks have you reached?

Oh yes that.

I've noticed that old men don't look so old anymore! I was watching something the other day and the man in it was about 65 and I could see the young man he'd been....weird.

Pleasegodgotosleep · 16/04/2018 14:19

My doctor looks like a 12 year old!! I'm only 39....

MrsExpo · 16/04/2018 14:19

When I overheard someone recently refer to DH as an “elderly gentleman” .... a bit of a backstory, but I still felt sad and quite offended. He’s not THAT old .....

AjasLipstick · 16/04/2018 14:21

MrsExpo Shock How old is he?? If he's over 60 then...well, that's fair enough. But under 60! That's not elderly!

movinonup · 16/04/2018 14:21

Urgh then I reached that landmark some time ago! (Whenever Nashville came out and instead of fancying the young hot guys, I foundmyself fancying Deacon)

crunchymint · 16/04/2018 14:23

When you find yourself questioning whether someone is really old enough to be a Dr or policeman.

SaucyJack · 16/04/2018 14:23

Have you been watching Riverdale OP? Luke Perry and Skeet Ulrich are the hot dads.

AjasLipstick · 16/04/2018 14:23

Also, my young neighbour...also female....got in front of me when we had a weird man who was shouting aggressively in front of our gardens which were attached.

I realised she was protecting me! Grin I was only 42 at the time and probably much fitter than her....but at 23 she must have thought me an old woman!

DairyisClosed · 16/04/2018 14:24

I reached that at about 13 Blush. Robert deneiro though-only better with age that one.

BumpowderSneezeonAndSnot · 16/04/2018 14:24

Oh god yes I have reached the police/Dr age. My peers from school who are Drs are now consultants or GPs and i have a friend who's ds has just started training for the police. I feel so so so so old now

crunchymint · 16/04/2018 14:24

Sadly, although I am not there yet, when you have a funeral outfit that you wear fairly regularly.

GorgeousJaws · 16/04/2018 14:25

I watched The Bridges of Madison County last week and found myself fancying Clint Eastwood's character.
Clint bleeding Eastwood!!

PositivelyPERF · 16/04/2018 14:25

over 60 then...well, that's fair enough EXCUSE ME! 🤨

crunchymint · 16/04/2018 14:26

When people start regularly offering you seats on the bus or tube because they see you as elderly.

goodelfallover · 16/04/2018 14:26

When a twenty something offered me his seat on the train. I'm 49.

BumpowderSneezeonAndSnot · 16/04/2018 14:27

Prime Clint Eastwood was a beautiful man it's allowed

OP posts:
crunchymint · 16/04/2018 14:27

PERF At 60 or older you do not feel old. But young people do see 60 year olds as old.

AjasLipstick · 16/04/2018 14:28

Ah who cares anyway!? People can see me as elderly if they like! I don't give a bugger these days. I'm 45 and obviously not going to look as I did at 20....I just do the best I can with what I've got not much

Zaphodsotherhead · 16/04/2018 14:28

I had to restrain myself from IDing a policeman buying energy drinks in the shop the other day.

Rationally I knew he must be over 18 to join the police force - but he looked about nine!

And children the age of my own DC are now qualified doctors, teachers and business owners. Which, to my gratification, makes my DC feel old too...

BikeRunSki · 16/04/2018 14:28

When you walk through a town/city centre in the later afternoon, and the youngsters giving out club flyers don’t give you one.

crunchymint · 16/04/2018 14:28

good I hope you accepted it. We should be encouraging people to offer seats.

AjasLipstick · 16/04/2018 14:30

I don't see 60 as OLD exactly but can understand that at 60 you're not going to be as fit or physically capable as you once were...unless you're exceptional. Elderly is just a term which is meant to be more polite than "old".

I'm definitely "getting on" as they say!

Merryoldgoat · 16/04/2018 14:31

Had the exact same experience watching Gossip Girl and Nashville re: Rufus and Deacon.

Also, kitchen appliances - I have been showing off my new kettle and toaster all week and prioritsed their purchase over some trousers I’ve been eyeing up.

GirlsBlouse17 · 16/04/2018 14:33

For me one of the things was when the newly elected Prime Minister was younger than me

crunchymint · 16/04/2018 14:33

When I was 20 I saw 60 as old, so accept that is how many 20 year olds see people that age. Doesn't matter if in your 60s you don't feel old.
I have some very fit and sporty friends who run marathons do Ironman challenge, etc. All say they have less physical stamina than in their 20s.
