When you notice you're no longer checking out the hot son on a tv programme or film but the hot dad instead

What other landmarks have you reached?

EMMERDALE and THE ARCHERS!

MrsSmile · 16/04/2018 22:18

When you are one of the older people at work and considered a “senior member of staff” Grin

AnneWiddecombesHandbag · 16/04/2018 22:22

I can't see in my mirror to do my hair make up without my glasses on now!

Lweji · 16/04/2018 22:23

When the radio station you tune to in your car plays Mambo No 5 and when the DJ says "At this point any kids being taken to school by car are asking themselves why their parents are dancing to this music", it's spot on. DS confirmed it.

GirlsBlouse17 · 16/04/2018 22:28

Radio DJs referring to bits from the 1980s of even 1990s as golden oldies!

When you no longer refer to your knees as left and right but as good and bad 😐

expatinscotland · 16/04/2018 22:30

When you see a male celeb and your first thought is what a nice son-in-law he might make.

Fadingmemory · 16/04/2018 22:31

Over 60 is elderly? Words fail me.

Bluntness100 · 16/04/2018 22:34

My husband has reached this stage, we were out in the car last week and there had been an incident of some sort, and we could see a car pulled up on the verge, my husband said "wonder what's going on there, lots of kids millling round"

Two mins later "oh they are police officers",,,,then as I gave him that look Hmm he says "well to be fair, I was right the first time, they are kids".

He was quite serious too, 😳

spacestranger · 16/04/2018 22:37

@Queenoftheblitz the new Blake is far hotter than the original though!

I'm loving male Sammy-Jo just as much though.

spacestranger · 16/04/2018 22:40

When you realise you were working at the same hospital Harry Styles was born in around the time he was born.

I still fancy him though

When you go and see a band you've loved since 1989 and even then thought the lead singer was ancient... and suddenly I'm thinking mmmm, he's aged into his looks very well. He would only be about 30 in 1989.

Yoksha · 16/04/2018 22:42

Ha ha. What a fantastic subject for a thread. I've got two experiences that's happened in the last 6 wks.

In Iceland, I was struggling with a static bag. This kind younger lady thought she'd hurry things along. She took my bag out of my hands and packed it. After the initial shock I just enjoyed it. First time ever.

At the doc's on Friday (he's slightly older than me for context ) he enquired about my general health. I mentioned that I'd found it a long winter. He replied " it's usual when you're getting older ". I was like, okay!

Angie169 · 16/04/2018 22:43

I was talking to my Aunt yesterday and she reminded me that my 'baby' cousin ( her DD ) was 30 . WHAT when the hell did that happen !

GirlsBlouse17 · 16/04/2018 22:48

I think one of the things I find hard to get my head around is that in the 1970s I considered the 1940s as such a long time ago and the war as 'ancient' history but now more time has passed between the 1970s and now than it had between then and the 1940s! How did that happen?!

Lotsofsausage · 16/04/2018 22:51

Not me personally but my ex started hanging around with a younger girl when we separated which annoyed me a bit. Anyway. Fast forward one year, she got bored of him and got a boyfriend her own age. Which turned out the be the son of my ex’s uni friend ! Mwahahahaha

A pair of earrings I bought new whilst at college are described as 'vintage' on Etsy.

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 16/04/2018 22:59

The child I used to babysit for was making plans on Facebook for his 30th next year. (I am 36 but that made me feel 106).

TinklyLittleLaugh · 16/04/2018 22:59

As a young teen I loved Blondie but really could not see what gorgeous Debbie Harry saw in Chris Stein (he would have been about 30).

Looking at old footage now, yeah I absolutely get it.

UpstartCrow · 16/04/2018 23:01

Fashion gives me deja vu.
The DC's have been explaining 'in' bands to me. It's the music I used to listen to. .

GirlsBlouse17 · 16/04/2018 23:01

I saw a mail order keep fit course instruction manual that I had done in the 1970s in a museum recently!

Spam88 · 16/04/2018 23:01

Oh OP, I had that exact thing! My little sister was gushing about how attractive all the boys were in this series we both watch (Shadowhunters, if anyone's interested) and I was like 'er...clearly Luke (the Dad-type figure) is the hottest...'. And that was a few years ago so now I must be really old.

scrabbler3 · 16/04/2018 23:02

Soneone mentioned Dynasty- I was thinking last week that Cecil Colby is hotter than Jeff Colby. When I watched it originally I thought he was an old git and that Jeff was gorgeous.

SevenStones · 16/04/2018 23:03

To be finding men in their late fifties attractive and the mere idea of a man still in his forties too young...

MaureenNervosa · 16/04/2018 23:03

I remember wearing in the 80s some of the exact same clothes that Erica Goldberg wears in 'The Goldbergs'.
