To think we have to share our discount with everyone

We're going somewhere this weekend with several other family's. We earn by far the most but also get it half price as work for the nhs. We have to buy as a group and share our discount. Equally right?

OP posts:

Yes I’d say total cost divided by number of people/families is the best way. You all get some discount then.

Lacucuracha · 05/04/2018 21:35

Not necessarily. The other people will get their own perks through their jobs.

Is it a monetary discount like £100 off?

LolaTheDarkdestroyer · 05/04/2018 21:36

Why do you have to ask you either do or you don't your morals.

Sciurus83 · 05/04/2018 21:36

It would be the nice thing to do

cliffdiver · 05/04/2018 21:37

Reverse?

Eatsleepworkrepeat · 05/04/2018 21:38

Wow why didn't I know about the half price holidays when I worked in the NHS. Kept those quiet.

NewYearNewMe18 · 05/04/2018 21:38

Yes you do - that's surely the whole purpose - "Hey guys, lets go to X place, we get Y% off, it's a great deal" ? not "ooh lets let our mates pay full whack and we get a freebee"

NewYearNewMe18 · 05/04/2018 21:41

Eatsleepworkrepeat NHS workers have shed loads of preferential discounts - easy google able abut I'm surprised you didn't know seeing as my inbox is full of the spam.

Appuskidu · 05/04/2018 21:41

So, are the options:-

A. Only you get the discount
B. The whole group get a discount

?

Do you want to elaborate and give us more information otherwise why would you do anything other than B?

negomi90 · 05/04/2018 21:42

I work for the NHS, where is the magical place and how I do get this discount?

  • misses point of thread entirely -
Glumglowworm · 05/04/2018 21:42

You presumably like these people since you’re going away with them. And you said you’re the highest earners in the group. Why wouldn’t you want to share the discount with your friends? How is it even a question?

Scotsrule · 05/04/2018 21:43

If it’s a limited discount - ie use it only 4 times in a year or for so much saved in a year then yes it would be reasonable to have an issue. If it’s unlimited use then what new year said is usually the way it works 🙂. NHS discounts don’t usually have limits do they?

TheIncredibleBookEatingManchot · 05/04/2018 21:43

If you like the people you're going with and sharing the discount costs you nothing then why wouldn't you?

WeirdyMcBeardy · 05/04/2018 21:44

I've only seen 5% off holidays. Would love to know what this 50% off is!

CuckingFunt1987 · 05/04/2018 21:45

Erm how do I get half price holidays as an NHS worker ??? If you do then yeah let your friends benefit !!

guiltynetter · 05/04/2018 21:47

OP never said it was a holiday! read the thread properly! she said going somewhere this weekend - could be a theme park or somewhere like that.

Cleanermaidcook · 05/04/2018 21:47

If you were all planning on paying together then yes the cost would be split equally however if each family are paying separately then it would not be possible to split the discount,

The OP doesn't say it's a holiday - she says she's going 'somewhere' this weekend. I read it to be an attraction.

I’m guessing it’s probably a meal out and the serving person gets 50% off. When it’s a split the bill thing then yeah sure. These discounts are never at top end places and the discount is often quite insignificant to the main bill. So it’s really not that big a deal.

OOMG · 05/04/2018 21:52

It depends if it’s a % don’t account of the price or a set monetary amount off e.g £25 off entry fee.

Which is it?

OOMG · 05/04/2018 21:52
  • don’t account should read discount off!
CandODad · 05/04/2018 21:54

Either way if you get a discount and your allowed you share with friends. I have vouchers to take people to a theme park for £20 does this mean I should charge them full price because it’s my voucher? Of course not.

5plusMeAndHim · 05/04/2018 21:55

You need to clarify how the pricing works , and how the discount works for anbody to be able to comment.
eg is it a holiday cottage with 25% off , or theme park admission with 2 tickets at half price
