Their national anthem is mightily long. However, ours is just awful imo

Yes it's dire. I wish 'Jerusalem' hadn't been adopted by both Labour and The Women's Institute. Not that I have an issue with either group, just that it means it's unavailable.

The tune for 'I Vow to thee My Country' is brilliant, but some of the lyrics are a bit Jingo.

Same with 'Land of Hope and Glory'.

The national anthem should be about the country and people rather than about the king or Queen. The line "Long to reign over us" is especially grating.

The current anthem is awful. It's not about the country or the people at all just about the royals. My vote goes for land of hope of glory.

My friends who are not British think it’s weird that the Ebgland football team sings ‘god save the Queen’ ad it’s the UK anthem and England should have their own anthem.

I think the other guy had two, Samoa and New Zealand but yes agree, ours is pretty rubbish!

Flower of Scotland is the adopted anthem of Scotland. I think each country should have their own and then only use the uk one when it is Team GB or anything for Great Britain, not when it’s the England football or a rugby team who are not playing for Britain.

It's just all so silly. Separate counties for sport but the same country for everything else. England should have their own national anthem. Personally, as a Scot, I find Flower of Scotland a bit dull. 500 Miles maybe??!😂

The tune is miserable as fuck. The tune to eg La Marseillaise is much more jolly sounding (even if it talks about slitting people's throats).

Ginger that sounds brilliant. I saw The Prockaimers live at T in the park and they had the biggest crowd of the weekend. It was a fabulous atmosphere, the sun was out and everyone was dancing ceilidh style.

I'm not sure if I prefer the Welsh or the Italian national anthem best - can you tell I end up watching a lot of Rugby? The best thing about Ferrari doing well in F1 is that we hear plenty of that anthem. Unfortunately if Vettel rather than Raikonnen wins we hear far too much of the German one. Which is still not as dire as God Save the Queen though.

Should be Land of Hope and Glory, especially if they leave all the oompy bits in like at the last night of the proms.
