...about the bloody person who has come and sat at the end of my admittedly longer than i need table at lunch when there are literally DOZENS of empty tables (including numerous long tables like mine)?!

OP posts:
Queenoftheblitz · 29/03/2018 15:21

Maybe he/she has a crush?

BoobleMcB · 29/03/2018 15:26

I mean I suppose that is possible but given the lack of looking over/attention my way at all says not.

Though saying that, the fact that every blow of soup and rustle of packet is like a cheese grater leading to an irrational hatred building, I'd say it's probably a good job! 😂

OP posts:
KellyBailey · 29/03/2018 15:48

YANBU, who does that when there are empty tables. Weirdo.

SmilingButClueless · 29/03/2018 16:01

YANBU to be irritated. I would just move, though, if there are lots of empty tables. Leave the other person to it if the table is that important to them.

Mydoghatesthebath · 29/03/2018 16:04

This would annoy me too.

Once we were sat on the beach with all our stuff set out and the beach was empty, beautiful view of the sea etc.

A family arrived and sat slap bang in front of us about 6 feet nearer the sea. People are fucking mental

soupforbrains · 29/03/2018 16:15

UGH I HATE this. See also the guy who in an ENTIRELY EMPTY GYM, when I was on Bike 2 in a row of 10 exercise bikes, came and got on the one right next to me.

Why don't these people understand. I don't get it!

MumofBoysx2 · 29/03/2018 16:15

Maybe she did it to help out the waiting staff - less running about for them.

GreenTulips · 29/03/2018 16:17

Happens in the bus all the time!

Who teaches these people?

I sometimes park in an EMPTY car park (early morning shopper) and when I return to my car, there is a car parked in the next space to me. Just two of us side by side in an enormous car park. Find it totally baffling.

calzone · 29/03/2018 16:32

This happened to me and ds in the cinema.

We were completely alone and an elderly lady sat next to ds!!!!

In an empty cinema!!!!!😀😀

BoobleMcB · 29/03/2018 16:33

@MumofBoysx2 that would be fine and make sense if it weren't self clear! 😂

I should probably point out I'm at work and it's in the work restaurant area

Perhaps some people think it will make them look rude and stand-offish if they sit as far away from you as possible. For all we know it could be a cultural thing and people in some other countries would think it rude to not sit nearby. I dunno just speculating.

Oldraver · 29/03/2018 16:36

This happens a lot with our car in car parks. Virtually empty and someone parks right next to us. I just cant figure it

soupforbrains · 29/03/2018 16:37

@JaggyJobby HAHA YES

in my gym the exercise bikes each have their own tv screen and you cycle to power it. the guys who came RIGHT next to me then started watching MY tv over my shoulder! I mean honestly... I wanted to punch him in the face, but he was enormous and I am pathetically weak and flabby.

SuitedandBooted · 29/03/2018 16:38

There are two sorts of people in the world.

Those like me and my mum, who would happily drag myself and my siblings miles along a beach, intent on finding a spot as far away as possible from anyone else.

And those who have to sit beside someone EVERYWHERE. They obviously subscribe to the safety in numbers theory, and fear kidnap.

clarabellski · 29/03/2018 16:39

Car parks: chances are you parked nearest the exit to shop/work/whatever and the other person wants to do the same?

OP did you give them a wink?

WunWegWunDarWun · 29/03/2018 16:41

Carparks are different, you have to park next to a more expensive car so the other one is more likely to get stolen or broken in to ;)

foxyknoxy30 · 29/03/2018 16:41

This once happened to me in an empty cinema, sat up the back in a row of six my family took up four and this couple took the other two, plus she had this really bad cough 😥I could feel the rage,I mean who does this !!!

ProperLavs · 29/03/2018 16:41

it's so bloody annoying I agree. The amount of times I have been waiting for someone in a busy street and I park myself infront of a shop window, right in a corner so as not to be in anyone's way.
There is no one around, no one interested in this particular part of this particular shop window- at all.
Infact it is quite an unattractive shop window. I am safe.
Of course it becomes the most fascinating corner of a shop window of all the shops in the high street. Always. People are jostling me to look in.
I should hire myself out to bring in trade to failing businesses..

Andrewofgg · 29/03/2018 16:52

I have coffee in a Costa where many of the tables are under a blower - and I will avoid them even if that means sitting near somebody. Could that be the reason?

NutElla5x · 29/03/2018 16:54

I normally cock my leg and wee on each table leg OP,that usually keeps the bastards away!

ALongHardWinter · 29/03/2018 16:56

Because there's safety in numbers is their reasoning!
I get this in shops ProperLavs. If I'm in a shop and I need to answer my phone,I try to stand somewhere that's not busy, and I'm not in the way of some interesting display of goods. But I can guarantee that without fail, crowds of people will suddenly descend and desperately need to look at the 'Speciality coffees from around the world' display,RIGHT NOW. Grin

ivykaty44 · 29/03/2018 16:58

Same person who got in the pool in the same lane as me this morning....4 empty lanes but want to swim in the same lane as I’m in...?

1981m · 29/03/2018 17:00

It is annoying. I was in an empty car park at dd gymnastics. Another car comes and parks right next to me and then hits my car when she opens her door because she's not left enough room. Strange
