I'm never sure if I am supposed to. What's the general rule?

I don't.

DramaAlpaca · 28/03/2018 22:05

I've never tipped a grocery delivery driver. It's never even occurred to me to, tbh.

Cakecrumbsinmybra · 28/03/2018 22:06

No, surely people don’t do this??

TempusFugitive · 28/03/2018 22:06

I don't. NObody tips me and I do a good job for wealthier people than 'I'.

PurpleDaisies · 28/03/2018 22:06

Is that a thing?

GreenRut · 28/03/2018 22:09

I never do

Lacucuracha · 28/03/2018 22:09

I remember seeing a programme on TV or an article that talked about fit and healthy people wanting their shopping right in their kitchen but never offering a tip, and yet elderly women being so grateful for their shopping that they tip a £1, which meant alot to the driver.

MrsJoshDun · 28/03/2018 22:10

Never crossed my mind. I don’t tip the checkout person either.

Astrid2 · 28/03/2018 22:11

I never do! Don't know where else the delivery man would leave my shopping though if not in the kitchen? They usually help me unpack it onto the table as well. I am fit and healthy!

Clutterbugsmum · 28/03/2018 22:17

Never do, they already get paid from the company they work for.

MrsWooster · 28/03/2018 22:21

Thats nice, clutterbug theres nothing like minimum wage to keep one in the lap of luxury.
DP delivers for a very naice company and pretty much no-one (except the most unlikely as detailed earlier) tips except a few at Xmas.

Onecutefox · 28/03/2018 22:26

I don't and I hope it's not expected. I think, actually, they don't expect a tip.

Does anyone tip pizza delivery drivers? I never do and wouldn't like if they had expected me to do it. Their pizza is quite expensive. The Big chain.

cupoflemontea · 28/03/2018 22:27

I hate anything involving tipping. It makes me sweat.

I work in the nhs and get nuffink so I have no idea why and what is acceptable.

Why taxi, hairdressers but not delivery drivers, although yes to pizza delivery Confused

deste · 28/03/2018 22:27

I tip.

mumtomaxwell · 28/03/2018 22:28

It has never occurred to me to tip them. I have also never considered they would bring my shopping into the kitchen for me!! Is that what most people do?! Some drivers do look surprised when I carry the crates through from the front door - I’d feel well cheeky asking them to do that!

Onecutefox · 28/03/2018 22:29

Hate tipping culture. Give here, give there. People forget that they have salaries and don't work for free.

ERipley · 28/03/2018 22:29

Don't know where else the delivery man would leave my shopping though if not in the kitchen?

Most people I know just unload the boxes at the front door then carry the shopping through after.

RatOnnaStick · 28/03/2018 22:30

I've never tipped and I don't know anyone who does. They always ask where I want it and happily bring it through to the kitchen. Nobody has ever assumed I would take it atone door.

Dontletthebastardsgrindyoudown · 28/03/2018 22:31

@Astrid2 eh, your door!

Weebo · 28/03/2018 22:31

Oh God, is this a new thing?

I just had all my Easter eggs delivered by a lovely man from Tesco and didn't tip. Does he think I'm a dickhead?

I have never tipped.

cupoflemontea · 28/03/2018 22:32

Yes we're a front door family too.

Hold on - do the kitchen receivers ask the delivery drivers to remove their shoes? Shock what if they want to use the toilet?? ShockShock

Drop shopping and leave please!

2Brieornot2Brie · 28/03/2018 22:32

Ocado drivers are not allowed to accept tips. I tried when one delivered to me under impossible circumstances.

Redglitter · 28/03/2018 22:32

I thought they weren't allowed to accept tips. The drivers I get from Tesco are lovely they automatically take my shopping into the kitchen for me. I've never tipped them though

Onecutefox · 28/03/2018 22:32

I offload the shopping by the door and that's it. The driver is happy and I can sort out the shopping by myself otherwise I would have to think of the driver walking with his shoes on on my carpets.

Amonk3ysButler · 28/03/2018 22:33

I never do. My dh is a delivery driver for a supermarket and tips are not something that are expected or usually accepted where he works. I do tip for takeaways though.
