Feel so old

Farmerswife36 · 23/03/2018 22:50

Is 36 old . I have 4 kids and had them all from age 18 - 32 and suddenly it's hit me . Now I have my youngest starting school in September , that I'm old ! I feel so old and have never thought about it before but somehow 36 feels so old ?? When did you suddenly realise that you were no longer a spring chicken ??

Yes it is.... to me... Maybe I'm the wrong person to ask. I was 36 2 weeks ago and since then I've been on a nostalgia kick... buying toys from my youth and listening to my teenager year tunes.

Grey's are starting to be so apparent it's not the odd one anymore there's a good 20-30 I reckon. I'm jealous of my ds who's just started school, I'd love to do it all again.

Mumto2two · 23/03/2018 23:13

My youngest is at junior school and my eldest is about to finish..and at half a century old, I'm really no spring chicken. But I'm not giving in just yet...no way! It's a state of mind OP. Embrace your youth..and it will embrace you. Well that's what I keep telling myself Grin

shaggedthruahedgebackwards · 23/03/2018 23:16

Of course you aren't old at 36!

Calvinlookingforhobbs · 23/03/2018 23:16

Be grateful, OP. aging truely is better than the alternative. It is a privellage to get older. Enjoy it.

I'm wondering if Botox will help. I have a couple of lines on side of my eyes but am scared in case Botox makes them worse ?

OP posts:
Farmerswife36 · 23/03/2018 23:21

Lines only visible when I smile

What do you mean kind of life I do ? Because I'm a farmers wife ? Does that matter ?

Fuck me, I’m 50 this year. Please don’t waste your 30s stressing how ancient you are...

frenchfancy81 · 23/03/2018 23:23

36 here and a son of 18 months. Don't feel old and agree with the poster above who says aging is a privilege!! I do get nostalgic however- and wish time would slowwwww down as time really does fly!! x

frenchfancy81 · 23/03/2018 23:24

...'kind of life' comment probably refers to 4 children?

KeepServingTheDrinks · 23/03/2018 23:25

Ha! I'm nearly 48. Old at 36? Pah!

It's up to you, but I'd not recommend the botox route. Don't try and fight the aging process - it's a battle you're going to lose. Celebrate being alive and being who you are.

But what do I know... if it works for you... meh... go for it.

BackforGood · 23/03/2018 23:26

Of course YABU.
Start worrying about it (aging) in about 40 years

mimibunz · 23/03/2018 23:29

I’m 50, get over it. Smile Seriously though, you really are very young. Maybe it’s your perspective because you had children so young?

BrazzleDazzleDay · 23/03/2018 23:32

I'm 31 with 4 dc, I feel pretty good tbh, granted I have a couple more greys and wrinkles than I started but I'm good

birdladyfromhomealone · 23/03/2018 23:36

53 here, do I feel old? do I fuck. in my head I'm 18, had 3 kids by the age of 27. Now peri menopausal but hit the gym 5 times a week. Age is just a number.

FinallyHere · 23/03/2018 23:40

I see your 53,and raise you 57. I work for a corporate , of 10,00+ people, i know the names of all those who are older than me, it's not very many (don't need to take my shoes and socks off to count that far)

DramaAlpaca · 23/03/2018 23:46

Meh. I'm 50 something & I still feel like a spring chicken. I refuse to feel old. In my head I'm only about 28 - which is weird as I have grown up DC.

MollyWantsACracker · 23/03/2018 23:55

I will be 48 this year. I look very good. I’m healthy, toned & reasonably slim 10/12 after 2 children

My mental health is another story 😐

Worieddd · 23/03/2018 23:57

I’m 35 and feel pretty good to be honest. Really don’t feel old at all.

YouTheCat · 23/03/2018 23:57

Hahahaha Old my arse!

I work in a school and am seeing parents that I used to teach to read when they were at primary school.

PerfectlyDone · 23/03/2018 23:57

Well, it's all relative, innit?

I had my first child at 37 with three more to follow Grin

If you are lucky enough to be healthy and not poor, the majority of your life is ahead of you. And your youngest starting school may give you a bit of independence back that may not even realise you missed.

dinosaursandtea · 23/03/2018 23:59

I’m 35 and I don’t feel remotely old! Though I think if I had 4 kids of school age, I probably would.

Prestonsflowers · 24/03/2018 00:01

I hit 60 last month and my son is 40 on Tuesday. How in God’s name did that happen!!!
I’m not old enough to be the mother of a 40 year old.
In my head I’m about 22, get a shock every time I catch sight of myself in an unexpected mirror.
Don’t go down the Botox route.
If I could go back in time I would say:
Drink loads of water and then drink more water.
Wear moisturiser and foundation/ skin cover every day
Moisturise your neck every day-lots
Pack in the fags (if you smoke)
Drink water
Love the fact that you are only 36 and you have so many years ahead.
ENJOY your life now.
It’s the only one you’ll have
