To get a shopping trolley?

MrsMotherHen · 22/03/2018 10:41

My DS is now 3 and is far to big to be pushed around in the double pram now and is quite a good walker.

Our supermarket or town centre is 30min walk so not far really (he will sit in trolley for a rest when we get there)......anyway I also have my 9 month old in a mei tai carrier, as she hates her pram. So I don't have anywhere to put my shopping would I look a bugger with a funky print pull along?

So AIBU to get a shopping trolley at 27? Shock[ blush]

Get one if it will make your life easier, if it makes it more practical with your kids then do it Grin

Honestly, this subject comes up so often, I don't know how people still think shopping trolleys are just for the elderly.

There are tons of nice designs in shops/online and loads of people use them.

My only advice is make sure you get one with rubber tires and not plastic wheels, as they often crack/shatter after a few uses.

We have one at our holiday apartment, very common to use them there. I get awful excited about using it Grin

im 31, im getting one for here!

KC225 · 22/03/2018 10:57

I know I will get flamed. I have no reason and your circumstances sound like you need one but every fibre in my body screams 'a shopping trolley Noooooooooo'

paxillin · 22/03/2018 11:05

The day I stopped giving a fuck about random people's opinions was a blessed one indeed. I wish I had discovered this much earlier in life.

Get the trolley.

honeycrumpet · 22/03/2018 12:19

Loads of the uni students where I live use them and I think it's a genius idea. I reckon you can put more stuff in them than I could comfortably carry for a 30 min walk and they'll be much better on your arms, back and shoulders. Go for it! I might join you!

FrizzyNoodles · 22/03/2018 12:21

Get one. I've considered it but not there yet. But also... online supermarket deliveries!

maddiemookins16mum · 22/03/2018 12:25

I got one when DD was about 3 and was too big for a buggy. It was a common sight to see us both off to our ASDA, me with my 'cat themed' shopping trolley and she with her mini version.

MojoMoon · 22/03/2018 12:26

I have owned a metallic leopard skin one since I was 23.
Loads of people have them, I live in an area where hardly anyone drives. How else do you carry stuff home?

MrsMotherHen · 22/03/2018 14:40

am going to go for it! I do do alot of online shopping but sometimes I like a little mooch around the shops.

Do it!! Theres a woman (id say about 25ish) who has a walking small child and a baby that she wears who gets my bus most days. She has a pretty funky one and her little girl has a similar small lady-bird one. I think they look great together!

ChevalierTialys · 24/03/2018 12:16

I have a purple one with butterflies printed on it. I am 31. DS is 3 and loves to pull the thing along (when it's empty)

Triskaidekaphilia · 24/03/2018 12:21

I've had mine since I was 19! It was just the right size for my fortnightly shop in uni!Smile

This. It’s so true.

I think shopping trolley sounds like the perfect solution.

icclemunchy · 24/03/2018 12:32

I bought one for the same reason. Eldest was 4 baby in the sling so nowhere to stuff my crap. Still use it now for days out and picnics. Mine has owls on 😁

masktaster · 24/03/2018 12:35

I've had one since I was 18 (technically on my second). Great for booze runs as a student, even better now with DS in the sling Grin

SweetMoon · 24/03/2018 12:54

Get one, they aren't for old people. I have one, it's a bright fun print and makes carrying shopping back a breeze. They are also brilliant on days out to hold all the kids stuff like jumpers and coats , food, drink, picnic blanket.

TroysMammy · 24/03/2018 13:02

I've had mine for 7 years. I bought it after a shopping spree when I spent most of my time juggling carrier bags from hand to hand and losing the will to live. It is a godsend when buying cleaning products and heavy things like 12 packs of jam jars. I'm now 50 and it is beige with coloured circles on but I love it and it is also useful for bumping into people who get in my way Grin.

Idontdowindows · 24/03/2018 13:14

I've had one since I was 24. Wouldn't part with it for the world!

Goldmonday · 24/03/2018 13:17

I've got one at 24.

Wish I had discovered it sooner.

PrettyLittIeThing · 24/03/2018 13:20

I couldn't do it

abigailsnan · 24/03/2018 13:22

I have one which has 4 wheels and goes up and down curbs with ease the best thing I have ever bought for myself really made life easy when shopping,it is bright girly pink with black spots on and really eye catching,so go for it and don't think what others think for one minute.
Happy shopping.

Phosphorus · 24/03/2018 13:25

I have one, but I've only used it at markets so far.

How do they work at Aldi etc?

Do you pull them around behind the trolley while you're shopping, or are you meant to leave them at the front of the shop, so people don't think you're a shoplifter?

The security guards out here seem to spend the entire day following parents with buggies as it is.

AlpacaLypse · 24/03/2018 13:27

Mine is bright pink. I got it at a steam fair when the twins had just grown out of the double buggy and I was losing the will to live carting around picnic, blanket, coats, water bottles and all the other paraphernalia that used to get shoved in the basket underneath.

It still makes the girls die of embarrassment when I take it out shopping, but teenagers are mortified by whatever their parents do, wear, or say, so that doesn't matter.

I love it!
