Slowest most boring film ever ..... what's with all the hype and awards?

Watching it with MIL, she feels the same.

Does it get better? Prob an hour in now ..... I might leave the wine bottle next to me instead of putting it back in the fridge 🥂😴

It's fucking terrible.

Turn it off and save yourselves!!

ShiftyMcGifty · 11/03/2018 16:15

Didn’t last 5 minutes.

kerryweaverscrutch · 11/03/2018 16:16

It's brilliant.

You don't like it, no problem. Why so shocked other people do though?

Hisnamesblaine · 11/03/2018 16:16

Gave up after 10........

enpointeredshoes · 11/03/2018 16:18

10/10 I loved it! One of my favourite films.

Curtainshopping · 11/03/2018 16:19

The ending is the best bit so stick with it!

Iooselipssinkships · 11/03/2018 16:21

Watched with DP. I say watched we turned it off after a few songs and that's from someone who loves musicals and Ryan Gosling.
I just didn't 'get' it. In fact I don't think there's much to get... how it won awards, accolades etc I don't know.
Glad to see we weren't the only ones!!

PurpleWithRed · 11/03/2018 16:23

Didn't get it either. and hated all those skinny gym bunnie women in it.

CarpeVitam · 11/03/2018 16:24

I didn't like it at all!

ThatchersCold · 11/03/2018 16:25

It was bollocks.

But it’s one of my bf’s favourite films, so different strokes for different folks I guess.

Eltonjohnssyrup · 11/03/2018 16:26

One of the worst films I’ve ever seen.

SingingSands · 11/03/2018 16:26

It’s just dire. Save yourselves.

kaytee87 · 11/03/2018 16:28

My mum called it 'la la shite'

IveGotStupidHair · 11/03/2018 16:28

It’s ok. It could have been so much better if they’d actually used singers and dancers rather than actors who can sort of hold a tune and can just about dance.

SandyY2K · 11/03/2018 16:29

OP... my sentiments exactly about the film.

I kept thinking I was missing something considering it was nominated for so many awards.

EscapeTheCastle · 11/03/2018 16:30

I have a theory that the two stars don't get it either. They look quietly amused and bemused in the publicity they did around the time of it's release and the Oscars last year.

NorthernLurker · 11/03/2018 16:30

I thought it was really good but it is a bit slow. It's the ending I loved, so brave and non-Hollywood. It would gave been so easy to end it in another way.

Bluelady · 11/03/2018 16:31

It's complete bollocks.

JennyHolzersGhost · 11/03/2018 16:31

Loved the ending.

WhyBeDennyDifferent · 11/03/2018 16:33

I mean it’s ok, but it Won’t blow you away.

The actors can’t sing and the songs are shit.

Curtainshopping · 11/03/2018 16:35

I liked it because:

Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling are likeable actors.
They’re not the best singers and dancers which I found refreshing, as oppose to that formulaic stage school warbling you usually get in musicals.
It’s a love story with an extremely bittersweet, original (ish) and non-Hollywood ending.

Commented on the same thread twice like an idiot. I thought I'd lost the first post to be fair but there it is. Apologies! It's still rubbish though.

Allthebestnamesareused · 11/03/2018 16:42

No it doesn't get better- Blah blah Land! Turn it off now and find something better.

BumpowderSneezeonAndSnot · 11/03/2018 16:42

One of the very very few films I turned off part way through because I was so bored
