Slowest most boring film ever ..... what's with all the hype and awards?

Watching it with MIL, she feels the same.

Does it get better? Prob an hour in now ..... I might leave the wine bottle next to me instead of putting it back in the fridge 🥂😴

I loved it! It would a strange world if we were all the same. But why is this an AIBU?

AdaColeman · 11/03/2018 16:54

I only managed about 15 minutes of it before packing the dvd off to the charity shop.

ZenNudist · 11/03/2018 16:57

I love La La land and i dont like musicals but i do like rom coms

kerryweaverscrutch · 11/03/2018 16:57

I'm confused by the people saying they only watched a few mins of it so they can tell everyone its shite.....you didn't watch the film, how the hell would you know? Confused

ZenNudist · 11/03/2018 16:58

Ive even learned to play the tunes and listen to the sound track. One day want to go to that observatory in LA.

ToothTrauma · 11/03/2018 17:00

No you’re not missing anything, it’s awful.

Tralalee · 11/03/2018 17:00

I think if you are going to like it, you will like the first 10 minutes. Dd and I loved it from the beginning, dh and dd1 left the room after the first song.

Quickerthanavicar · 11/03/2018 17:00

Got 30 minutes in and turned it off. Still have the DVD.

HatchetFace · 11/03/2018 17:02

I watched the whole thing, never been so bored by a film in my entire life

yummumto3girls · 11/03/2018 17:06

Didn’t get it either, gave up after 20 mins!

dayswithaY · 11/03/2018 17:07

Absolutely love every second of this film, I 'd say it's pretty much perfect, in my top ten of all time. Now I feel weird.

TresDesolee · 11/03/2018 17:09

Oh, I really love it. I think a couple of the songs are great, I love the opening sequence (which is refreshingly light on production line gym bunnies, I thought), and overall the colours and the sets are just so gorgeous. It’s such a shot of summer. I really like the performances too (although I found the jazzsplaining tedious).

As someone else says, horses for courses

BettyBaggins · 11/03/2018 17:11

Bunch o balls!

AutoFilled · 11/03/2018 17:11

I love it!!

GinasGirl · 11/03/2018 17:12

I really hated it, which was such a disappointment because on paper it's my cup of tea, however I found it slow and boring.
I fought hard to stay awake to see what happened at the end and the only feeling I had was relief that it was over and I could wake up DH to go to bed 😄

MegEmski · 11/03/2018 17:13

I loved it! Don't know what about it but just grabbed me.

yearofthehorse · 11/03/2018 17:14

Absolutely loved it but thought The Greatest Showman was dreadful. I like what I like.

fredabear · 11/03/2018 17:15

Loved it, but can see it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. Think it’s a bit much to dismiss it without watching the whole film though!

Tralalee · 11/03/2018 17:15

Yes I didn't like the greatest showman either. Kids.did though

Usedaname01 · 11/03/2018 17:16

I quite liked it, the ending wasn't all cheesy and happy with everyone getting exactly what they wanted. I hate when films are like that. Wasn't the most amazing thing ever though

allthatmalarkey · 11/03/2018 17:22

The best bit is the opening sequence. If that didn't get you, the rest of the film definitely won't. I think it lags a bit and I think Emma Stone was wrong for it, but if you love films in a cinephile sort of way you get what they're trying to do which is why Hollywood loves it. That opening sequence must have been REALLY hard to film and they would have had limited time to do it in.

GlitterFree · 11/03/2018 17:23

Loved it from the moment the music started!
Don't like Ryan Chicken Head Gosling.
Don't like his dickhead character.
Don't like musicals.
Confused

Namechangemum100 · 11/03/2018 17:25

Awful film... don't get the hype what so ever.

EllieMentry · 11/03/2018 17:27

I love a musical but I thought this was dire. Hated it.

CremeBrulee · 11/03/2018 17:29

Like a couple of the songs and the look of the production with its throwback to the golden age of musicals.

But I hated Ryan Gosling and the lack of any chemistry between him and Emma Stone killed what could have been a tearjerking story line.

Mediocre in my view and I love musicals!
