Slowest most boring film ever ..... what's with all the hype and awards?

Watching it with MIL, she feels the same.

Does it get better? Prob an hour in now ..... I might leave the wine bottle next to me instead of putting it back in the fridge 🥂😴

I love a musical and watch any film to the end as I hate not knowing what happens...La La Land is my only exception on my 40 yrs on earth...tried twice, gave up twice ...utter boring drivel. Literally only got 15 mins in, awful stuff that should be shown to prisoners on a loop as punishment.

Lethaldrizzle · 11/03/2018 18:12

It's not the best film in the world but it's uplifting, then again I like stuff with dancing and music and love! And it's got one of the best opening shots of any movie.

MadMags · 11/03/2018 18:13

I think it would have been a lot better if they’d cast people who could, you know, sing...

gamerwidow · 11/03/2018 18:14

I love musicals usually but it felt like a self indulgent love letter to Hollywood from Hollywood. I found it hard to care about any of the characters. I can see why those in the industry showered it with do much praise but for an outsider it felt a bit meh.

Eltonjohnssyrup · 11/03/2018 18:15

spicylolly same. I absolutely love musicals, hated this. Googled the ending to find out what it was as I really couldn’t be arsed sitting through it.

FifiVoldemortsChavvyCousin · 11/03/2018 18:48

I hated it until the last ten minutes now it’s one of my favourites.

Housewife2010 · 11/03/2018 18:57

I'm not interested in Eastenders, Poldark, Game of Thrones, Greggs, beer, unicorns or gaming. Instead of worrying about people who like these things, I just avoid said things and do something else.

StopPOP · 11/03/2018 19:05

Big pile o shite.

Odiepants · 11/03/2018 19:11

Didn't really get it on the 1st viewing but watched it again on a long haul flight and found it made more sense knowing the ending. Liked the songs but agree there was a lack of chemistry between the leads.

CuppaSarah · 11/03/2018 19:16

Love the opening number, loathe the rest. The characters aren't likeable for me, their situation is boring, I just can't care about it.

I tried. I really tried.

cluelessclass · 11/03/2018 19:18

I liked it but have to admit I don't get why they won so many awards. it wasn't anything special.

BlancheM · 11/03/2018 20:17

I only bought it because I kept seeing it get slagged off (mainly on here). I love a good sneerfest and wanted to see what was so crap about it...I thought it was brilliant! I kept humming the tune to one of the songs for about a week afterwards.

The80sweregreat · 11/03/2018 20:23

I liked the ending. Rest wasn’t great.

Hobbitch · 11/03/2018 20:30

For me it's a beautiful and moving tribute to the old MGM musicals and the Jacques Demy films I love, so I really like it. I wish another actress played the female lead as Emma Stone is dire, and it's too long - so not a perfect film but it really moves me and Ryan Gosling is fantastic.

DumbledoresApprentice · 11/03/2018 20:31

I really enjoyed it. Not my all time favourite movie but did enjoy it and I think it’s real quality. I loved Whiplash too. I think Chazelle is brilliant.

SissySpacekAteMyHamster · 11/03/2018 20:37

I fell asleep at the cinema....

Zfactorstar · 11/03/2018 21:15

Saw it in the theater with my brother who absolutely loved it. Was bored out of my mind for most of it (it did have a few moments that were kind of neat). Couldn't leave because he drove.
