First date and he's literally sat in silence

Oh dear. I'm on a first date with someone I met on POF. He seemed interested at first but now he just have decided he doesn't want a second date as he's pretty much say in silence. I've asked him a million questions and he responds but doesn't ask me anything back. I've just popped to the loo as I've been say in silence a minute too long. We met at 8pm. AIBU if I say I have to get home now and bring this to a very swift close? I feel bad as he's still got half a glass of beer he's not have touched for half an hour.

I'm going to need a glass of wine at home after this!

Get yourself home, alone. His beer, his problem. You should have left ages ago tbh.

Slanetylor · 03/03/2018 23:15

He just might be the quiet unsocial type.

duffaho · 03/03/2018 23:16

Go home. Hes not worth spending more of your time with and you owe him nothing.

Slanetylor · 03/03/2018 23:16

Anyway you've given it long enough! It's not like you skipped out after half an hour!

Hotdoggity · 03/03/2018 23:16

What a catch! Go home lovely. Get chips.

elQuintoConyo · 03/03/2018 23:16

"Well, this didn't work, did it? Onwards and upwards. Goodbye."

And go home and drink wine Smile

WishingOnABar · 03/03/2018 23:16

Good god leave asap!

Life is too short to make an effort for people who aren’t worth it Flowers

MargotLovedTom1 · 03/03/2018 23:16

Yes - go home!! Just say you're going to call it a night and get the hell out.

missiondecision · 03/03/2018 23:17

Home 🏠 now . He sounds like a dullard.

TooManyMiles · 03/03/2018 23:17

Say, "It has been a nice evening but I've got to go now.`' And then go.

frasier · 03/03/2018 23:17

Was he still there when you went back? Shock

flumpybear · 03/03/2018 23:17

Duck that! Chips and wine home alone sounds perfect!

LineysInTheSnow · 03/03/2018 23:19

Do NOT accept any offer of company, a lift or a shared cab. Just get yourself home.

Rollonweekend · 03/03/2018 23:19

It’s late enough for you to reasonably say you are heading off. Wired he’s dragging it out by nursing his beer bit not chatting/making an effort. It’s quite a long evening for a first date anyway.

Bail now and enjoy and glass of wine at home.

CremeFresh · 03/03/2018 23:19

Or you could pm one of us your number and we could call you with an 'emergency'.

BluePheasant · 03/03/2018 23:20

Yes go home. Don’t feel bad, he’s not exactly making any effort to make you want to stay is he?

I want some chips now.

GreenSeededGrape · 03/03/2018 23:20

That's what I wondered frasier could be an east end for you there OP!

Rollonweekend · 03/03/2018 23:23

Let us know when you’ve escaped OP. Hope you’re in a cab

chocolatespiders · 03/03/2018 23:26

Escape ASAP!

Navrat · 03/03/2018 23:33

I'm on my way back now. To be fair he seemed a nice enough guy. Walked me to my taxi and didn't do anything wrong as such but there was absolutely no chemistry. I didn't fancy him but if he had had loads of character I might have given him a chance but he just didn't seem interested and didn't ask me anything about myself at all. I kept trying to think of questions to ask it was exhausting.

At work I'm always being asked out on dates (not found anyone I find attractive from work yet) but this is the second on!one date now where there's been no spark so maybe I'm better in more natural environment.

Hope you're home

How long was he quiet? Sounds awful.

MsVestibule · 03/03/2018 23:38

You spent three hours on a first date with someone you met through OLD 😨??? I've bailed out after half an hour before with a 'I don't really think this is going to work out' type line!

ManchesterGin · 03/03/2018 23:41

Leave. Remember you’ll never get this time back.
