I flew to Newcastle from Bristol on Tuesday and was meant to return on Thurs (I live in Plymouth). Flight was cancelled and rebooked for today, cancelled again! I got on a train in Newcastle this morning, got as far as Birmingham and they kicked us off! No trains running south today and not even looking good tomorrow!

I miss my DH, I miss my house, I miss my cat! AIBU to either cry or stamp my feet or get really pissed!! I JUST WANT TO GET HOME!

That's tough. Where will you stay?

SparklyLeprechaun · 02/03/2018 18:46

I feel your pain. I've been trying to return home since Wednesday. It looks like I might be able to fly tonight. Fingers crossed for you that you'll make it home soon.

Blackteadrinker77 · 02/03/2018 18:47

My heart goes out to you. It's awful.

I'd crack open the wine Wine and skype your DH

missymayhemsmum · 02/03/2018 18:48

You poor thing. Hope you have found a nice warm hotel room, novel and bottle of wine.

SlideAway82 · 02/03/2018 18:48

I'm in a hotel in Birmingham tonight (I'd been travelling for work so luckily they're footing the bill for everything!). The snow is heavy here and not look like it's stopping anytime soon.

And thank you Perendinate!

Dawlish is down too! You poor thing. You might get as far as Exeter?

OyO · 02/03/2018 18:48

I'd try and make the most of it if you're able - book into a comfy hotel, get a mound of room service and a bottle of wine, enjoy yourself!

metalmum15 · 02/03/2018 18:49

That's a bit shit really. I hope you're somewhere warm and dry, you're well fed and you've got a glass of wine (or alcoholic equivalent) in your hand. On the plus side, when you do eventually get home, your dh will feel so sorry for you he'll probably spend several days spoiling you and letting you put your feet up!

HappyGirl86 · 02/03/2018 18:49

Aww gosh that sucks. I feel bad for you. I'd definitely be stamping my feet and having a cry! Do you have any friends or family nearby who you could stay with/visit? You might miss Home a little bit less then. I really hope you get home tomorrow!

SlideAway82 · 02/03/2018 18:50

Thank you everyone! DH is currently in the pub at home and I'm having a cocktail! He isn't giving me any sympathy and telling me to make the most of chilling out! But I'm lonely now......tiny violin

Hoping to get as far as Exeter and then get picked up from there. My work car is still at Bristol Airport but I'm too chicken to drive home!

I'll be up all night tonight checking Crosscountry updates!

If you can get into Bristol the Falcon buses have been running and should be again tomorrow.

Blackteadrinker77 · 02/03/2018 18:51

@sparklyleprechaun

I hope you get home tonight Flowers

SlideAway82 · 02/03/2018 18:52

My fingers are crossed for you too Sparkly. Where are you stuck?

OP posts:
Almostfifty · 02/03/2018 18:52

My DH is stuck down south, not sure if he'll make it home at all this weekend. Sigh.

SlideAway82 · 02/03/2018 18:53

Ahh that's good to know MoreHairy - just hope I can get that fair!

LakieLady · 02/03/2018 18:54

How awful. I'd go for getting really pissed, I think. Have you managed to get a hotel for the night?

WTFIsThisVirus · 02/03/2018 18:54

Your DH is right, particularly if work are picking up the bill!

Run yourself a hot bath
Stay on the cocktails
Order a cheeky dessert
Watch a movie
Have a lovely lie in

SlideAway82 · 02/03/2018 18:55

Where is he stuck Almost? It feels like Devon has literally been cut off. They keep closing the motorway and no trains too so home just seems like 1000 miles away.

Glumglowworm · 02/03/2018 18:55

Hope you get sorted! At least (small mercy I know) you don’t have to worry about the extra cost if work is paying.

The south west was terrible overnight I believe but the red warning was lifted in the early hours of this morning and where I am anyway (south east wales so was also in the red warning zone), we’re back to yellow, although the roads are still shockingly bad here, hopefully they’re better where you’re going!

Wine for you and hope you get home quickly!

SlideAway82 · 02/03/2018 18:56

I'm in a hotel thanks Lakie! And yeah defo the plan WTF. They do room service to fuck it, I may treat meself!

SlideAway82 · 02/03/2018 18:57

Thanks Glum! Yeah very lucky it's not coming out of my pocket - my train ticket alone from Newc-Plym was £250!!! For a single!

Babymamamama · 02/03/2018 18:59

I'm a bit weird but I would actually love this. As long as it ended at some point!

WeAllHaveWings · 02/03/2018 19:00

I have a friend who has been to Dublin for work, she was due to fly back Wednesday and has been told very earliest flight will be Sunday. She's been stuck alone in her hotel with nothing to do since Wednesday night.
