To wash kids flannels after each use??

So we have DS1 who is 2.5 and DS2 who is 4 months, every bath time I use a clean flannel for each of them then put them in the washing machine, DH thinks I should use same flannel for a few days but surely this is gross/germ filled?
I always wash their faces and hands then body feet and finally bums but then if we used the same flannel the next day it would have been on their bum etc then go on faces?? I don't use a flannel myself in shower but use a bath puff thing which I change regularly but certainly not every day (however I don't face my face with it) so not sure what other flannel users do?!

Am I being too clean freak or is my DH being gross?!?

He’s being gross. Ask him if he’d like to use something that had been round his arse on his face a few days later when it has festered. not envy.

I have a nappy bucket in the bathroom and each time a flannel is used, it goes in the wash. Might be OTT.., but we have lots of flannels and it's not hurting anyone

You're being a clean freak. How many people have you even read of in the Daily Mail, let alone in real life, who have ended up sick from reused flannels?

I use a fresh flannel everyday in the shower, I'm quite slack in other aspects of good housekeeping though! I have loads of cheap white ones and they look quite nice folded up in a basket on my bathroom shelf.

I wash flannels after every use. I buy packs of 10 from IKEA kids section and once they’ve started to get worn / stained from taking my make-up off I dye them and use as cleaning clothes around the house.

If it makes you feel more comfortable then wash them! I'm assuming you do the washing so no worries. I personally wouldn't but then I don't use flannels. Nothing wrong with just rubbing soap on them with your hands and then washing it off. No flannels required.

I know a family who leave manky wet flannels hanging all over the bath and wash basin for days on end without washing them. They have "bum flannels" and "face flannels". I know that no one will die because of this but it's absolutely revolting.

I stick them in the wash after every use. My DP thinks the same as yours, OP. I’m a total self confessed clean freak. really really messy though but that’s another thread!

I use a muslin cloth on my face and a flannel for my nether regions. They are both rinsed thoroughly but not washed after every use - we only do one wash a week so they get done then.

We only use flannels for faces sometimes hands here so can be used more than once and for more than one child.
In your case I would wash after each use if bums are being washed with it!

I have up with flannels due to this dilemma

I wash them with my hands and body wash. Much simpler

Agree it's not something to lose sleep over and I totally get boys will be more gross with age so I probably have years of bathroom battles ahead of me with the two of them!!

However for now and while babies I will carry on with washing them!! (Yes I do the washing!) just have to remember to scoop them up when DH does bath time!

Who uses a flannel on their bum? Soapy hands surely. Flannels are for faces.

Opposite here treeofhearts. I wash my face with my hands and my bum with a flannel. Who wants to wipe. Their hands all over their bum? Also - soap? Near all the sensitive bits?

Flannels stink if they're left on the sink to be used again. They just do. They are a single use only item. No exceptions. Unless you want to smell worse after washing than you did before.

1 flannel for face, one flannel for body. Rinsed and hung on the radiator to dry after each use and stuck in the wash once a week. Bums are washed with hands. Washing flannels after each use is a bit excessive (especially if you don’t apply the same germ logic to your body puff thing)

When mine were little I did reusable nappies and wipes so I have a mountain of cheeky wipes so no hassle to se a new one every day as they are only little.

You know those bath puff things are terrible for bacteria right?

I'm with Bananapie - rinsed out and hung out to dry after each use, then washed with the towels, is fine. My kids really aren't that mucky when they get in the bath, given hands / faces / bums get cleaned as needed through the day. My shower puff worries me far more!

Washing bum with hands sounds grim to me.

I had no idea people washed flannels are every use!!
I don't use them. But I don't wash Dh's after every use!
