Chapping doors asking people to sign up to get the local newspaper delivered. I trudged the streets of my town in the cold, dark and rain for weeks. I got 1 pence for everyone who signed up. I made about 14p in total. I was about 11 and obviously had a stronger work ethic then.

TerfyMcTerface · 25/02/2018 20:45

Office junior in a publishing house. Was young and naive (Catholic girls’ school, strict parents). The advertising guys openly snorted coke off their desks. The director and office manager were jailed for fraud shortly after I left.

isthistoonosy · 25/02/2018 20:48

Babysitter for a couple of hours most weekday afternoons. I was 11 and the child was 18 months (not my sibling). I walked them home from nursery, cooked and fed them dinner, played with them and lit an open fire to warm the house before everyone else came home. Somehow I also did my homework most nights while they played around me.

TheOldestCat · 25/02/2018 20:50

Babysitter then waitress at the Wimpy Bar (and playing Mr Wimpy!)
