Waitressing. I was 12 (this was 11 years ago) and I hated it. The next summer I got a job on a holiday park instead in the fast food kiosk and absolutely loved it. It was family-run, I was treated like an adult, the door staff looked out for me and stopped anyone harrassing me at night, I got free food, they bought me lovely birthday presents and I was paid well. I was earning over £1000 a summer. I loved it.

Summer job in a newsagents shop. OK job, but they gave me split shifts - 6 until 10 and then 1 until 5. I didn't have a car so couldn't go home and just had to hang around the town centre so it made it a long day.

Waitress in a large restaurant. I was 14 so still at school. Kept waitressing all through my student days.

At the time it was mostly fine although I wouldn't want to do it now - long, unsolvable hours and sometimes miserable customers!

Working in a petrol station during summers while I was at university

I enjoyed it tbh, especially the 2nd year I did it as I worked all evenings, mostly with the same girl and we had a laugh.

Saturday checkout in Littlewoods, in the days when they sold food - and when Littlewoods existed!

I had a round, selling lottery tickets for my local football club. Used to love Christmas and the tips. Council estate houses - used to get really good tips and they always have me a cut of their winnings. Owners of the big houses on the private estates were so tight.

Chessington World of Adventures. In a shop that sold sandwiches and ‘Dunkin Donuts!’ I worked there when I was 15. I used to love it! I had a laugh with the staff and ate my way through so many doughnuts too!

Working in the bread/cake shop part of Betty’s cafe. If any of the cakes came in damaged we were allowed to eat them on our breaks. Amazing how many times my thumb slipped!

Worked in my parents bakery, in the shop on a Saturday and in the bake house for an hour after school, from 12 years old for £1.20 an hour.

From 13 I babysat for parents in the village and at 14 I picked up 2 children from nursery at 4pm, took them home and played and bathed them until 7 when mum got home.

Started off with a paper round but my first "proper job" was a Saturday girl in a hairdressers. Absolutely loved it. £20 for 9 hours on my feet (plus tips) which was more than enough for a Saturday night out on the tiles.

Admin job at a car selling place. I was only 17 and really had no idea that the guy employed me only to be an ornament in his office. I only lasted a month, he paid me a huge bonus because apparently his sells rocketed thanks to my presence. It made me feel very uneasy and I left. It paid for an AMAZING holiday though Grin

Fish and chip shop over 25 years ago. They had me on the equivalent of £13 an hour by the end of my 4 year stint there - working weekends and school/uni holidays. Such a lovely hardworking Greek family - I look at that time very fondly.
