AIBU to think my weight loss should be noticeable by now?

So I’m 161cm tall and I’ve lost 8kg since December. 110kg down to 102.

I think I. An see it slightly in my face, and maybe some clothes are slightly, (slightly!) looser. Or maybe it’s just me grasping at straws.

AIBU to think that it should be a bit more noticeable? I get maybe not to others yet, but shouldn’t there be tops that are definitely more looser, a bra that needs strapes adjusted, or trousers that used to be too tight/uncomfortable to sit down in, but now are easier? I’m not asking to go down a size....but something????

I’m starting to think the scales are wrong and I really haven’t lost a thing. Seriously getting close to cracking open some biscuits and giving the whole thing up.

Has this happened to anyone else? Does it kick in soon???

I lost 3 stone once and my mum told me I looked exactly the same and she couldn't see any difference at all.

JuliannaBixby · 12/02/2018 12:31

For me it's always been a 2 stone loss that makes the difference in dress size and 'noticeability' (made up a word but you know what I mean) Grin

You're doing great, keep going! Also, are you exercising? Although I've put on a stone that I lost last year, I'm still in the smaller clothes because I think running has just made me generally more toned.

FlopIsMyParentingGuru · 12/02/2018 12:35

Could it be that you were at the top of a dress size and so clothes are fitting better rather than feeling loose?

WorraLiberty · 12/02/2018 12:39

Gahh! I still work in 'old money' Blush

So is this right? You're 5ft, you've lost just over a stone and you're now 16 stone?

You've done so well. Don't crack the biscuits open now!

Bluntness100 · 12/02/2018 12:39

You've lost quite a lot. It's hard to see it in ourselves because we look at ourselves daily. I'd agree with a pp poster, were your clothes maybe tight before and just fit better?

Keep going. I mean this respectfully, but as you've a bit to lose, it's easier to see weight loss when someone has less to lose. There does come a point when it becomes noticeable to everyone and I suspect you're not far off it. So keep going, that moment is just around the corner.

Bluntness100 · 12/02/2018 12:41

I only work in old money too, but I think the op is 5 foot three.

Thereshegoesagain · 12/02/2018 12:42

People started commenting at about the 3 stone mark, at that point I’d dropped a couple of dress sizes and had started wearing new clothes and holding myself a bit differently, until then, no one said a word.

Bluntness100 · 12/02/2018 12:42

And she's lost 1 stone four pounds which is excellent.

WorraLiberty · 12/02/2018 12:43

Ahh thanks Bluntness. Yes, that's nearly a stone and a half loss.

Keep going OP. You're doing it for you and you're getting there.

Saladd0dger · 12/02/2018 12:45

Keep going op, 3 stone loss before anyone noticed with me

Remote1candles · 12/02/2018 12:48

You're doing so well, keep going. I'm a similar weight and find that the noticeability of weight loss can be very uneven. I started at over 18 stone a few years ago, lost over 4.5 stones (29 kg) on Slimming World, then gradually put over 2.5 stone (14 kg) back on. I found that 2 stone (12 kg) would be about a clothes size.

I've recently lost 12 pounds (just over 5kg) and my trousers feel a little bit more comfortable but not a huge amount. I can see it in my face but not sure other people would notice. I'm aiming to lose another 20 pounds (9 kgs) which should take me down a size I hope.

ButchyRestingFace · 12/02/2018 12:48

So is this right? You're 5ft, you've lost just over a stone and you're now 16 stone?

161cm is 5 ft 2.8 inches.

Rudgie47 · 12/02/2018 12:50

Sounds like your doing very well.
It takes about 2 stones to go down a size or two. Dont worry you'll soon be there at this rate.

chewbacca83 · 12/02/2018 12:51

Take photos in your undies from all angles ,that's the way to see progress. Also get a tight item of clothing that is your measuring item to see as it gets looser. Sometimes the changes are so gradual that it's hard to see yourself. Pictures really help.

finnmcool · 12/02/2018 12:54

What about visceral fat? That's the important one to lose, I'm not sure if it actually shows though?
Keep going OP you're doing fantastically well.

finnmcool · 12/02/2018 12:55

What I mean is; you're probably losing visceral fat and maybe it's not physically noticeable?

waitingforlifetostart · 12/02/2018 12:57

For me people tend to notice after I've lost about 1.5 stone or more. I'm a similar size to you op.

HoHoHoHo · 12/02/2018 12:59

I lost about 2 stone previously and I can't see a difference in myself unless I look at 2 photos side by side. I look exactly the same to myself in the mirror.

You've done really well, please don't give up!

halfwitpicker · 12/02/2018 13:01

Exactly how tall are you?I think 8kg is a lot though, well over a stone.

halfwitpicker · 12/02/2018 13:02

I'm 100% certain if you lose 2 stone that you can tell.

ShapelyBingoWing · 12/02/2018 13:03

I've lost 3 stone OP. No change in size at all and nobody has noticed. It's disheartening but it must eventually start coming off in a viable way. Don't give up!

StormyLovesOdd · 12/02/2018 13:04

Your doing great, so please don't get disheartened.

I've lost four and a half stone and no-one noticed until I lost three stone, now people ask me all the time. I've gone from a size 22 to a size 16.

MrsPreston11 · 12/02/2018 13:05

I'm smaller than you by a few stone, but started losing weight just after Christmas (didn't we all) and have so far lost 1st2lb and have gone down a dress size and it's not very noticeable to me and others.

Keep up the good work and you'll see results really soon. :)

floriad · 12/02/2018 13:08

Sounds like you're doing great.

My aunt lost nearly 25 kg last year. I'm sorry to say but I genuinely didn't see it.

I mean, I saw that she looked healthier / happier but that was it....

Isn't it possible that you lost a lot of "stomach" fat / organ coating fat?

Anyhow you're doing great!! Don't give up!

Bluntness100 · 12/02/2018 13:11

Wow 25 kg is nearly four stone, that's hard not to see on someone.
