Are you a feminist? Just a yes or no.

No need to go further into your reasoning if you don't want to but this has always a been curious issue to me and came up today with one of my colleagues. She is a feminist by how she described her beliefs but doesn't actually adopt the term.

Dd was talking about a poet she has to look at for gcse

The description said ' such and such is a fierce feminist)

So i said 'are you a fierce feminist'

And she said 'yes but she is a lesbian '

I did explain that being one didnt mean you had to be the other Grin

All feminists are “supportive of sex workers”. Some of us are not supportibe of pimps and punters.

I don't think women are the same as men, but we deserve freedom from violence and objectification, and equality of opportunity. I would like to see what that is like, since we have never had it.
I don't much care if it makes men feel uncomfortable when I point out GLARING inequalities. Cry me a river.

Anybody in possession of a vagina who wants to have sole say over what happens to it and how they are treated because of it is a feminist - whether they know it or not! Grin

bertrandrussel I think some people want it made entirely illegal. That is what I meant. I support the legalisation of prostitution and I dont think pornography should be made illegal. Im not saying you do! I was merely commenting that I see a lot of that view on mumsnet and so maybe some of those people would not consider me a feminist.

Yes I always have been and my df was one too so I never really labelled it, it's just the way it was in my house.

As a dm to 2 dd I'm even more determined to fight for equality and support the ideal of movements like #metoo.
