No need to go further into your reasoning if you don't want to but this has always a been curious issue to me and came up today with one of my colleagues. She is a feminist by how she described her beliefs but doesn't actually adopt the term.

What programme was that @GhostWriter666, I'd like to watch it and see what justification those women were using for their actions?

AssassinatedBeauty I don’t care about their reasoning for rejecting it. If they think women are not equal to men, they are stupid, full stop.

Badbadtromance · 09/02/2018 19:01

Yes and bringing up dd to be one

Bringbackpublicfloggings · 09/02/2018 19:01

BigChocFrenzy · 09/02/2018 19:01

I'm always polite to anyone who hols a door open for me, man or woman
Especially atm as I'm struggling on crutches

When able, I hold doors for others too

Just being considerate to each other, no conflict with feminist principles.

BertrandRussell · 09/02/2018 19:04

GhostWriter- are you sure that wasn’ some sort of satire?

windchimesabotage · 09/02/2018 19:04

Yes

sinceyouask · 09/02/2018 19:05

I would have answered no a few years ago op, because at that point I thought to be a feminist one must agree with what others said feminism was. But I grew up and realised that others don't get to define feminism for me. Feminism on mumsnet does not appear to be pro trans, for example. I am pro trans. I am no less feminist for that, whatever anyone else may say.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 09/02/2018 19:06

BigChocFrenzy. There was a thread on here recently about someone being annoyed that a man held a door open to let her go first ( the ladies first thing ) getting annoyed over stuff like that gives feminists a bad name.
I believe in equality, but I also like a man to be a gentleman.
