I have a drug induced movement disorder which, while not life threatening or that serious, it is a pain and yet I get on with things and carry on with life despite having the odd dystonic muscle contractions of various body parts.

I also had around 8 months of hell after a head injury and post concussion syndrome two years ago that led to a serious breakdown. That, again, was very crap and horrendous but I had to manage, hold down a job and look after my DD. It was probably a combination of luck and good antidepressants that stopped me being really ill and admitted to hospital.

I’m grateful for feeling so much better now, and completely appreciate how awful it is to have serious health problems. Plus, having watched my DB die slowly of cancer makes me realise all other illnesses really probably are not going to kill you, or are anything near as bad as you are making out. I’m sure you feel ill, but hey - you want to feel really ill? Try walking round a hospice or cancer ward and trading places with someone there. You would need more than your DM then... Hmm

My parents came over my dm took one look at me and took me straight to my gp who diagnosed flu, tonsillitis, a chest infection and on my dm telling him about me going dizzy he checked my ears and I've also got an ear infection. To all the snotty, sarcastic posters on this thread who felt the the need to tell me to grow up, stop being a wimp and called me pathetic I hope it makes you feel loads better about yourselves. My post was about it being unreasonable me asking my dp to nip home and get down medication from the top of a kitchen cupboard

LMAO No he didn't. You have a cold.

Are you secretly a man? Is it man flu???

Haudyerwheesht · 08/02/2018 16:18

You took your mum in to the consultation with you?

Ok...

Nicknacky · 08/02/2018 16:18

mamma I've had several chest infections and never once had an X-ray? Is that routine where you are?

NooNooHead · 08/02/2018 16:19

Just realised I contradicted a bit of my original sympathy from my earlier post. I guess I thought a bit more about what being really ill is...

shakeyourcaboose · 08/02/2018 16:20

Does anyone else have that annoying song in their head... ' a princess lived in a big tall tower, big tall tower, big tall tower long long ago' but I've got 'a princess was stuck on the counter top, counter top, counter top, poor poor wee lamb.. Those wicked vipers were so nasty, so nasty, so nasty, poor, poor wee lamb'..

shakeyourcaboose · 08/02/2018 16:21

Obviously over invested in thread, am also a lurgy sufferer so stuck on sofa!

Mummyoflittledragon · 08/02/2018 16:23

Mamma
A chest infection is bronchitis. Whenever I’ve had it, the doctor listened to my chest.

georgeoutside · 08/02/2018 16:23

I'm absolutely amazed a GP can diagnose a chest infection without a chest x-ray. Wow. That GP needs a knighthood/OBE or similar for services to humanity.

It's pretty standard to diagnose chest infections without x-Ray.

tiredvommachine · 08/02/2018 16:26

This thread is gold

IsItSummerYet2018 · 08/02/2018 16:28

I was so bored this afternoon.. Reading this took the boredom away 😂

Altho I will say last week I was ill.. Rang up gp who had a cancellation 35 min after. But that would be so rare. And I was never as ill as op lol.

SauvignonBlanche · 08/02/2018 16:30

What an efficient GP you have.

Newname4me · 08/02/2018 16:31

What is amazing is the diagnosis of flu. Like proper flu. Without swabs. Unless your gp has instant result swabs?

Wellfuckmeinbothears · 08/02/2018 16:32

@shakeyourcaboose.....I didn't but now I do! I started singing it outloud as I read your post and now the dog is looking at me like "wtf"!

IHaveBrilloHair · 08/02/2018 16:33

Jackanory.

Newnaim · 08/02/2018 16:33

Listens to what others tell you to do even if you know it’s a bad idea, Blame said people when regretting decision. Being stuck on the worktop until an adult gets you down, getting told off for climbing, gets put back to bed and left under the supervision of parents.
Can I just say how insensitive EVERYONE in this post has been? This two year old is clearly very poorly and not one of you have stroked her head or offered her an ice lolly!

TheFairyCaravan · 08/02/2018 16:35

This thread is amazing. Although it’s making me cough because I’ve got —double pneumonia— a tickle throat and a runny nose.

I’ve got Menieres Disease (yes I really do not taking the piss) if you really did have an ear infection making you dizzy you could not have perched on the worktop for 2 minutes let alone half an hour or more. You’d have staggered back to bed, banging and crashing into things, and puking for good measure on the way.

Thishatisnotmine · 08/02/2018 16:35

I feel that someone better at the internet would know of a lupus/lergy meme.

Sweet Jesus. This can't be real. How do you function in life? Confused

SwanVests · 08/02/2018 16:40

I can’t stop sniggering at the idea of op being stranded on a kitchen counter for 90 minutes. I can’t imagine what my dh would have said if he’d come home to find me like that. It probably wouldn’t have involved rockets though.

TheFairyCaravan · 08/02/2018 16:41

This woman is allegedly the mother of 3 teenagers. I’m absolutely gobsmacked.

purplelass · 08/02/2018 16:42

pray for OP Grin

I don't have a DH, DM or DD (or whatever shorthand for Dad is) to rescue me when I'm ill so I make sure any meds I need are kept within my reach just sayin'

shakeyourcaboose · 08/02/2018 16:43
