Wtf has happened to my brain

sillyoldowl · 03/02/2018 19:55

I used to be smart... I think. Two kids later and my brain is a marshmallow. I lose stuff all the time and can't remember what I'm talking about mid sentence. I am very sleep deprived.
Recently I really noticed it when I was throwing one of the kids up in the air and catching them... I did it maybe three times and realised... it. Was. The. Dog! He looked incredibly puzzled. I popped him back down and he just trotted off happily... but wtf happened there?!?
Anyone done anything equally stupid due to no sleep and to much on their mind!

I usually end up walking or driving to the wrong place.
My short term memory is shot.

sillyoldowl · 03/02/2018 19:57

Oh I've driven to my old house which is 45 mins away that was a piss take

sillyoldowl · 03/02/2018 20:01

Nope he is the fluffiest thing ever I've no idea what I was thinking... he probably just accepted that I was doing more batshit crazy stuff

Omg that is so hilarious! You must be so sleep deprived! I don't know if it ever comes back, to be honest. I'm still in the trying to blag it stage (though pretty sure no one buys it). In fact, I'm convinced it never comes back...🙁

Abracadabraapileofbollocks · 03/02/2018 20:03

Your dog has perhaps a place in your heart that is not dissimilar to your children? Trying to help.

Assburgers · 03/02/2018 20:04

I think the smarts come back after you stop BFing, in my experience.

Well. If you get sleep at all.

user365241987 · 03/02/2018 20:07

Same here, though possibly the marshmallow effect makes me imagine former intelligence. I constantly muddle up nouns for things or when dressing my toddler encourage her to 'put your arms in these trousers' etc. I have driven into town instead of to the childminder, awaited another child at school only to remember they are not last out, but staying for after school club. There are so many. But, my Mum was not working when we were young and simply there was nothing to do except an occasional friend over for tea. We are living in ridiculously busy times!

Dancinghorses36 · 03/02/2018 20:08

I've had three girls and found myself in a very large car park looking for my car...only to realise after about twenty minutes of wandering.. pushing my key fob that I had parked it in the sports shops smaller car park...opposite the shopping centre....so it would be easy to find..my brain is mush also..

blackheartsgirl · 03/02/2018 20:17

I got into the wrong car at the petrol station, didn’t even look like my car just the same colour

I was very tired and away with the fairies at the time

halfwitpicker · 03/02/2018 20:19

I'm in a permanent haze. Way stupidier than what I used to be. I can't even be arsed trying to figure stuff out most of the time, I just Google it or do something else Hmm

RandomMess · 03/02/2018 20:31

I'm impressed at the strength to throw and catch a cockapoo!!!!

Purplehammer · 03/02/2018 20:33

I was going to grill some bacon, couldn’t understand why the grill pan wouldn’t go in.
I was trying to put it in the washing machine.
The washing machine is the opposite side of th kitchen.
Twat!!

OuchBollocks · 03/02/2018 20:34

I used to be clever but barely have the intellectual capacity for the articles in Look magazine now. What brainpower I have is used to keep on top of finances, laundry, meal planning, doctors and therapists etc appointments for the DC. I am starting a new role at work soon and I hope to fuck it isn't too intellectually demanding.

OuchBollocks · 03/02/2018 20:35

purplehammer I put some sausages under my grill without turning it on and couldn't work out why they weren't getting hotter.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 03/02/2018 20:37

Very funny!

Don’t worry, though, the brain cells will regenerate in a few years. Then you’ll be fine till about your mid 40s and they will go down hill as fast as your boobs and your sex drive. Hmm

Crabbitstick · 03/02/2018 20:39

I lose words all the time, mid-sentence names, nouns go completely.
This is slightly problematic as a teacher 😂
I thought it was sleep deprivation after 2yrs of DS waking but suspect it's the job.
There's some vitamin we should take but I can't remember which!

Myddognearlyatethedeliveryman · 03/02/2018 20:40

I lost my new car in supermarket car park, convinced it had been stolen, dd and dh drove over, I was crying - only had it a week!! Walked about and found it rows and rows from where I was adamant I had parked!!

stargirl1701 · 03/02/2018 20:41

I have gotten into my car and sat there wondering why the engine isn't making any noise/I'm not moving for at least 2/3 minutes before realising I haven't put the key in the ignition. FFS.

I try to focus on remembering 3 things (keys, purse, phone) and my DC. I have yet to forget DC but regularly cannot achieve the 3. FFS.

MummySparkle · 03/02/2018 20:42

My DCs are 5 and 4 and I'm still waiting for my brain to come back.

Recent 'marshmallow episodes' include:

Trying to unlock the front door with my remote car keys and being annoyed that it wouldn't beep.

Driving to work with DD in the car without dropping her off first, had to get my mum to meet me in the car park outside work to hand DD over.

Spending ages trying to make the kettle fit on the base for the coffee maker.

bobstersmum · 03/02/2018 20:42

Haha gave me a giggle!
My brain is mush after 3 kids.

OuchBollocks · 03/02/2018 20:46

Since I went back to.work I keep getting out of the car and going to lock it only to discover I left the keys in the ignition Blush
