To be really hacked off at all the beeping?

So I got a new tumble dryer and cooker recently. And I'm going mad. Everything beeps. The dryer beeps repeatedly if the filter gets any fluff on it. It beeps several times at the end of the cycle. The cooker beeps if you place something on it even when none of the hobs are on. The microwave beeps far more times than it needs to when it's finished, and if you don't immediately open the door it beeps to remind you there's something in it. The washing machine beeps several times when the cycle has finished. Why the fk does everything have to fking beep in the kitchen!! Is it just me?

Microwave, washer & tumble dryer here thankfully at least the cooker likes me yep drives me fucking bonkers. It's almost like having three kids screaming at you for attention. In a really, really high pitched way

Mumbun · 31/01/2018 20:33

YANBU this drives me to distraction. Washing machine. Dishwasher. Hob. Dryer. All clamouring for attention. Sod off the lot of you!

Chathamhouserules · 31/01/2018 20:36

Yes I'm frequently shouting 'stop beeping at me!' I particularly don't like the washing machine beeping at me. It serves no purpose. I know which programme I put it in and I know roughly when it'll finish and I'll deal with it when I have time.

Chathamhouserules · 31/01/2018 20:37

It's flipping noise pollution. Which I don't need any more of with 3 dc who love to chat

UnicornRainbowColours · 31/01/2018 20:37

The washing machine at work is touch sensitive and it’s in the kitchen. So when I’m cooking is constantly switching it on and off

MrTrebus · 31/01/2018 20:37

You can turn it off read your manuals

Vitalogy · 31/01/2018 20:37

I have a basic washer, so no sounds. The oven pings once. I don't have a microwave, dishwasher or dryer. That's the answer OP, get rid of the appliances Grin

Vitalogy · 31/01/2018 20:38

Ps, at least they aren't talking YET!

Sweetpea55 · 31/01/2018 20:39

My washer plays a twinkly tune when it's finished it's cycle. It drove me mad.. But found out to silence it.... And now peace...

KylieMinoguesHotPants · 31/01/2018 20:43

Vitalogy getting rid of the appliances not an option, I had to buy the dryer because we literally have no room for a clothes horse. My elderly father moved in last year closely followed by separated son. Had to buy a double oven cooker because there are three of us all trying to cook at once. MrTrebus I don't have time to look at the manuals!

I'm a Kitchen Manager and my ticket screen system beeps everytime a new order comes on. Then again when it is cleared.
All of my equipment beeps when it is ready.

But the most annoying one is my own home washing machine. Why??? Just beep once or how about not at all? I can hear when you have finished!!!

Needless to say I gave been known to dream of the beeps and shout orders to my chefs in my sleep........

mustbemad17 · 31/01/2018 20:52

Glad it isn't just me that shouts at the sodding things 😂 My microwave beeps 5 times when it finishes, then 4 times as a reminder. Then 3...2...have yet to see what happens when it resorts to only 1 beep. If it wasn't so irritating i'd be tempted to try it

StepIntoMyParlour · 31/01/2018 20:53

My microwave, washing machine, dishwasher and kettle all do this. The most annoying though is my fridge that constantly beeps while I'm packing my shopping away. Only way to stop it is to shut the door and open it again which I don't want to have to do while juggling vegetables and jars.

Fluffyears · 31/01/2018 20:53

My washing machine beeps that it’s finished but makes you wait until it’s ready to open the door. Why not beep once door unlocks? My old one had a door that opened the second it finished! I wish i’d bought that model again!

StepIntoMyParlour · 31/01/2018 20:54

Oh and even shutting to door only stops it for 20 seconds, then it starts again.

SweetChickadee · 31/01/2018 20:54

I was complaining to DH at the weekend that all the appliances shout at me Grin

the washer and tumble are the worst - they play a little ditty and it does your bloody head in

Looneytune253 · 31/01/2018 20:56

Nothing beeps in my house. The microwave pings. The tumbler beeps but it’s outside and quite quiet so I’ve never really heard it lol

KylieMinoguesHotPants · 31/01/2018 21:01

I'm so envious Looneytune253. I dream of a silent Utopia.

Mine too. It is driving me nuts but cant work out how to switch it off! Maybe we have the same machine?

Fintress · 31/01/2018 21:07

I have a hob like that and one of these days I'm going to take a hammer to it. I bloody hate it. When you have a pot of the go the lightest brush of a sleeve on the controls turns the ring off. It makes me ragey at times.

SingingTunelessly · 31/01/2018 21:08

Recently had a new hob put in. I was wondering why the bugger beeps all the time even when it’s not on. Now I know! Must remember not to put anything on it.

KitKat1985 · 31/01/2018 21:10

Our fridge beeps as soon as the door is open for too long (which seems to be about a millisecond). I regularly tell it to fuck off.

QueenCity · 31/01/2018 21:12

My washing machine is happy in its work and plays a merry little tune when it's finished and then sits patiently and quietly waiting for me to deal with it. My dryer on the other hand is an angry, impatient fucker who shouts loudly and repeatedly until I pay it some attention!

WetsTheVet · 31/01/2018 21:13

My induction hob is like this. Screams at me when I turn it on, screams at me if it's hot, screams at me when a pan is off centre. I shout at it to shut the fuck up every day!

TattyCat · 31/01/2018 21:15

For pity's sake people, RTFM!!! You can turn these things off! For those posters (ok, that poster) saying they don't have time... well, get off MN and get RTFM!

Blimey. It's not rocket science.
