To be really hacked off at all the beeping?

So I got a new tumble dryer and cooker recently. And I'm going mad. Everything beeps. The dryer beeps repeatedly if the filter gets any fluff on it. It beeps several times at the end of the cycle. The cooker beeps if you place something on it even when none of the hobs are on. The microwave beeps far more times than it needs to when it's finished, and if you don't immediately open the door it beeps to remind you there's something in it. The washing machine beeps several times when the cycle has finished. Why the fk does everything have to fking beep in the kitchen!! Is it just me?

WTF? Wifi kettles? Why? Confused

Grin monotone disco fridge

My dishwasher and washing machine give a discreet beep at the end if the cycle only. They are integrated appliances so I only hear them if I am actually in the kitchen. My fridge and freezer don't beep. It's only the microwave that continues to beep wildly for about 5 minutes while I try to ignore it from the other room yelling shuddup you fucker Angry

mustbemad17 · 01/02/2018 12:42

Ah okay. Yeah i don't do gadgets haha

specialsubject · 01/02/2018 12:46

No time to look at the manuals? Oh well, you'll have to put up with the beeping.

My car needed a ridiculous incantation to turn off the seatbelt alarm - I reverse within my drive so I can go out forwards, seatbelt needs to be off for reversing. Found what to do after some research. Most designers are quite stupid.

Ikabod · 01/02/2018 12:48

My car, especially if I'm using sat nav. My car beeps because of the parking sensors (fine) but I've no idea why my sat nave beeps and pings and that drives me nuts.

The first thing I did when I got the washing machine was find out how to turn off the beep. If it wouldn't turn off I was going to send it back because there was no mention of it in the description.

Mini oven just goes 'ping' once, fine. Microwave the same. Main oven is old and is silent. Nothing else pings or beeps but I am wary of replacing old things because I am liable to kick them to death is they are noisy.

Gilead · 01/02/2018 12:52

My washing machine nags me if I don't empty it quickly enough. My kettle, dishwasher and fridge beep at me. I feel your pain!

halfwitpicker · 01/02/2018 12:54

Wrangle?

Sumo1 · 01/02/2018 12:55

PRoblem is if you are visiting someone - you don't recognise the beeps so don't know what to empty/ turn off. AAAAAaaah!

movingtowardsthelight · 01/02/2018 12:57

Feel thankful it just beeps!

My washing machine plays a military type ditty and I have to resist the urge to salute it. Every. Single. Time.

Lol

KylieMinoguesHotPants · 01/02/2018 13:00

WetsThe Vet yes mine's an induction hob. I bought it because it uses less energy but now I feel like I've lost some space because it objects loudly to plates, trays etc being put on it.

Nothing beeps at home except for the molivrowave. At work though is a different matter, the big oven beeps when it's done, the small oven beeps when its done and when the door is open, I silently scream at it that yes i know you're open I'm putting something in you you stupid bastard, the fridge and freezers beep when they're left open for more than a millisecond. It drives me mad.

Mycarsmellsoflavender · 01/02/2018 13:14

The washing machine that plays the tune by Mozart is the Samsung Ecobubble. Although there may be others too.
My Nissan Leaf plays a chime and a 7 note jingle when I switch it on. Might get around to switching it off one of these days now that the novelty has worn off.

carnassials · 01/02/2018 13:20

Our microwave's standard setting is 30 beeps! On looking at the manual you can change it to 3 beeps by doing a really fiddly procedure, but every time there is a power blip it reverts back to 30 long beeps!!

HazelBite · 01/02/2018 13:24

One of our cockatiels learnt to "beep" like our microwave, it was actually louder and more piercing than the microwave, and drove us all nearly demented.

ForagingForFaerieGold · 01/02/2018 13:28

All I can think of is the toaster in Red Dwarf loudly and continually begging for everyone to make some toast. Grin

PotatoesOfTheCarribean · 01/02/2018 13:31

Those of you who can't find de-beeping instructions in your manual, try YouTube you'll need the model number, but if it's possible, the instructions will likely be on there

Reckon you've got time for that OP? 😉

Microwave is regularly sworn at for beeping. I fucking no your done shut up.

The bread maker too Angry honestly it finishes then beeps 4200000000 times. God forbid if you want to use the keep warm function and have to listen to that before it shuts up for another hour.

Serendipityme · 01/02/2018 17:06

You seriously don't know how happy I am right now. I too despised the noise that my washing machine made. Who'd have thought it was as easy as watching a 2 minute YouTube video? Boom, now there is heavenly silence when I select programmes, temp etc and more importantly at the end of a cycle whereas it previously behaved like a petulant child that wasn't getting its own way, louder and louder til I dragged myself away from whatever else I was doing to attend to it. This is life changing. I love MN. Thank you SmileSmileSmile

My sat nav used to beep for speed cameras

I downloaded voices and stuff in mine and for speed cameras it would Moo.

This was fine until you had gone half an hour of it saying nothing then all of a sudden a loud MOOO would fill the car 😂

DryHeave · 02/02/2018 13:36

I have this too. And now a bloody smart meter chiming in, beeping to say everything is using too much electricity (which I think makes it a hypocritical bugger).

Sumo1 · 02/02/2018 13:41

I'm pretty sure my Samsung ecobubble plays a phrase from The Trout by Franz Schubert. It's about 23 mins in on youtube. It was something I played when learning the piano.
