We are separated but living together until April. He just came in and asked me to make him a cup of tea. As he's not feeling well and I'm trying to keep the peace I did. He asked what sort it was as I placed it down. I said builders. No thanks he said. I don't drink that at this time of day. I'm fucking livid. I think it's rude/ ungrateful/ spoilt. Why is it getting to me SOOO much. Just need to rant. Someone calm me down please 😩

Direct him to the nearest cafe if he’s going to be that picky! You are not his servant.

Changedmynameo · 25/01/2018 08:08

Next time he asks say "no thanks I don't make tea at this time of day" then go and make yourself one.

Sparklingbrook · 25/01/2018 08:08

It must be horrible to be separated and still live in the same house. My friend is going through this and finding it tough.

Did you make builders because that's how he normally has his morning tea?

Never make him a drink again. Roll on April.

Fekko · 25/01/2018 08:08

‘Tough shit’ or ‘that’s a shame for you’.

CheapSausagesAndSpam · 25/01/2018 08:08

Take that as your cue to never do him a personal favour or service again.

He's arsed that up for himself.

Keepingcoolwhenitshot · 25/01/2018 08:08

I'm just SO furious and want to go downstairs and scream at him which is why I'm posting on MN instead. AHHHHH

Keepingcoolwhenitshot · 25/01/2018 08:09

Breathe in. Count to 5 ..... slowly exhale- if he is porly sick in bed then maybe you need to have something urgent to do outside. Wifely duties have ended. He's a single man. Be kind-ish.

Keepingcoolwhenitshot · 25/01/2018 08:10

He does usually have earl grey I just forgot/ am ironing school uniform/ have a million other things on my mind. Unlike him who is lying on sofa resting.

Builders, tea.Confused. I don't get it.

I agree though tell him to get up off his butt and make his own tea. I can't think for one minute why you're separated from this charmer.

Pickleypickles · 25/01/2018 08:18

What builders tea?

LemonShark · 25/01/2018 08:20

What's builder's tea? And how is it different from the tea he requested? Confused

Sparklingbrook · 25/01/2018 08:21

Could he not have just bunged some more milk in?

Johnnycomelately1 · 25/01/2018 08:22

"Builders" just means bog standard English breakfast tea with milk- so not earl grey or peppermint etc

PurpleWithRed · 25/01/2018 08:23

Builders tea would be something like PGTips, brown and with milk in and sugar to taste: Other Tea would be something like Ginger and Jasmine Infusion, or Chamomile, or Earl Grey ie Hot Water with a faint bit of colouring and a weird non-tea taste.

Wanting something other than Builder's Tea at any time is grounds for divorce IMHO.

Sparklingbrook · 25/01/2018 08:24

Buy him this to give his next lucky partner.

Ah so just normal tea. I've never heard of breakfast tea, do people drink that at all times of day or just breakfast? I'm English btw just never heard of builders or breakfast tea!

Sparklingbrook · 25/01/2018 08:25

I thought builders was just a very strong brew with hardly any milk. Shock

RJnomore1 · 25/01/2018 08:26

I always thought builders tea was when it was stewed and really strong!

Crumbs1 · 25/01/2018 08:27

In fairness, I’m not always terribly grateful and polite if my husband mistakenly brings me Earl Grey in the morning. It’s vile stuff and a mouthful of bergamot on waking can ruin my whole day.
