We are separated but living together until April. He just came in and asked me to make him a cup of tea. As he's not feeling well and I'm trying to keep the peace I did. He asked what sort it was as I placed it down. I said builders. No thanks he said. I don't drink that at this time of day. I'm fucking livid. I think it's rude/ ungrateful/ spoilt. Why is it getting to me SOOO much. Just need to rant. Someone calm me down please 😩

I agree the best revenge is polite indifference. If he can't ever get a rise out of you, then toy are winning.
Next time he asks say politely "I'm sorry but you'll have to make your own. The last one really wasn't appreciated was it. Stay polite and calm but assertive.

We live abroad and it's actually the afternoon here so he normally has earl grey in afternoon and regular tea like pj tips in morning if he can't have coffee. Still a totally twat and yes, thinks the world and I revolve around him. Last night he asked what I was making kids and I said homemade pizza. Asked if there was any for him and I said yes (I know insert mug here) He then came back in from outside and said "how are those pizzas going?" and hung around the kitchen waiting for it to be ready instead of offering to lay table or get the kids drinks etc This has been going on years. He's a selfish, entitled, inflexible arsehole. Yes it's ONE small reason we are separating. We can't live apart sooner as I'm moving back to UK in April so no point in unsettling the dc by moving out twice / we are in a house provided by his work so he won't get financial support to live elsewhere and we can't afford it. Roll on april and freedom from being treated like his servant!

How fussy that at other times of the day he likes the taste of Builder's tea. Odd man.

He can't be that ill if he's complaining about types of brew. Don't do anything else for him. You poor thing, what a horrible atmosphere to live in. He's preying on your kind nature.

Builder's tea in our house is really strong milky tea using 2 tea bags in one cup.

Perhaps look into moving in a builder as your husband's replacement? My builder husband is handy round the house, looks great in his hard hat and obviously no complaints about his tea.

Tonight ask him what he is doing the children for their dinner.
Tomorow give him the uniforms to iron.

Let him get his own cups of tea etc. He's going to have to learn sooner or later. What's his plan after April, phone you to ask you to pop over to make him cups of tea, his dinner and anything else because he's ill?

justilou1 · 25/01/2018 10:15

If he were my husband he would still be icing the burns in his crotch. You are a saint.

meredintofpandiculation · 25/01/2018 10:32

I made him PJ tips, just normal tea. He wanted earl grey, bit scented, just a different taste but still tea. ... They are both brown teas with milk.
What!!!! Earl Grey isn't with milk! Lemon. Or nothing. Not milk.

DerelictWreck · 25/01/2018 10:48

Ah so just normal tea. I've never heard of breakfast tea, do people drink that at all times of day or just breakfast? I'm English btw just never heard of builders or breakfast tea!

How is that even possible?! It's like saying you've never heard of granary bread or sourdough, just bread.

FiveLittlePigs · 25/01/2018 10:51

Builders tea is strong, stewed and with about 5 spoons of sugar. 🤮

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 25/01/2018 10:55

Stop doing anything for him.

LemonShark · 25/01/2018 12:09

"How is that even possible?! It's like saying you've never heard of granary bread or sourdough, just bread."

I know regular tea, like tetley or typhoo, and Indian chai and early grey, and Darjeeling and lapsang souchong etc but I've never heard of a tea called 'English breakfast tea' or builders tea, we didn't drink a lot of tea growing up to be fair. I can imagine someone who knows about bread but hasn't heard of sourdough though.

Costacoffeeplease · 25/01/2018 12:22

Why are you doing anything for him? Just stop it now

Missingstreetlife · 25/01/2018 17:18

Can't you come home earlier?
