To be annoyed that the walnut from a walnut whip has vanished :(

...and is replaced with a blob of chocolate. Really bloody gutted. Seemingly they have been like this since August. I buy them from time to time but got gifted a pack of three from my dh who knows I love them and felt short changed. They are also no longer called a walnut whip!!! Just a whip!!! Seemingly its the price of walnuts. Cheap skates!

The worst thing about the demise of the peanut revel is that they replaced it with a fucking raisin. Fuck off you dried up grape - you missed your chance when you failed to become wine.

There was a brief glorious window when they replaced the evil raisins of doom with a strawberry one that was like the orange one (weird as I hate strawberry and orange cremes in a normal box of chocolates!!) but that was over all too soon 😭

mrsharrison · 22/01/2018 20:30

I'm gonna stock up on multi packs before they all go.

neveradullmoment99 · 22/01/2018 20:31

As a child, they were an 'adult' type chocolate. I wouldn't have bought one then as you didn't get your moneys worth. children always want sweets that last [ at least I did]. They would have been over in two minutes and not enough when young to satisfy my sweet tooth. I still liked them though but I don't generally feel they would appeal to kids anyway.

Hmm. This one seems to imply at the end that you can still get the traditional walnut whip all year as well as the new whip range? What do you think? I can't tell if I'm misinterpreting it? I'm too blinded by panic.

Iamagreyhoundhearmeroar · 22/01/2018 20:32

Of course it's nothing to do with consumer choice; do you remember that nonsense when Cadbury's made 6 packs of cream eggs which contained 5, not 6, and claimed it was in response to customer demand? Grin
Millions of people, apparently; outraged at getting 6 to a carton...

neveradullmoment99 · 22/01/2018 20:32

I cannot stand the raisin in revels and curse everytime I get one.

BuckysRoboticArm · 22/01/2018 20:34

I always buy a packet of chocolate covered peanuts when I buy a big revels bag. Don't tip them all in though. It's all about ratio.

neveradullmoment99 · 22/01/2018 20:35

Well heres hoping Buckys. Maybe a silver lining? Not what the telegraph said though.

I remember in the good old days when you could get both a walnut inside your walnut whip and a most delicious coffee flavour one that didn't taste anything like coffee more like caramel. And now I cant even get a bloody walnut on my whip. This country is going to pieces. It took me years to get over the Highland Toffee disappearing. Confused

And I clearly never remember DH complaining he had 6 cream eggs in his box but he certainly complains that he only has 5!

neveradullmoment99 · 22/01/2018 20:37

..and lets face it, I would rarely to go a newsagent to buy a walnut whip individually even if they still stock them. It is the beginning of the end. Asda and large supermarkets will only sell the multipacks.

..and I still miss five centres. :(

What!? That's outrageous. Please tell me Picnic bars still have peanuts in?

Laska5772 · 22/01/2018 20:38

never I give you ... Home made walnut whip recipe Grin

Laska5772 · 22/01/2018 20:41

and another using ready made .. marshmallow fluff .

BuckysRoboticArm · 22/01/2018 20:41

I know never I'm confused. Yeah very true, I always bought the 3 pack as they were good value, only £1 and that's the only reason I tell you officer You'd probably get one for that in our local shop.

I'd buy a bag of walnuts with my whips but I'm not doing their job for them too, you've got to draw the line somewhere.

BLUESEAPARADISE · 22/01/2018 20:42

I thought this however YOU CAN still get them .. you need to read the packet carefully as there is a slight name difference with the ones with and without!:)

MexicanBob · 22/01/2018 20:58

That's right Iamagrey. I haven't had one since they took the 2nd one out! Sad

neveradullmoment99 · 22/01/2018 20:59

Laska, thank you. They look delicious.

Does anyone remember the milk tray bar yum bring it back and aztec and tiffin

niccyb · 28/01/2018 17:31

What is the point of calling it a walnut whip if they have removed the walnut??
Marks and Spencer’s do their own version. Do they still have walnuts on?
