To be annoyed that the walnut from a walnut whip has vanished :(

...and is replaced with a blob of chocolate. Really bloody gutted. Seemingly they have been like this since August. I buy them from time to time but got gifted a pack of three from my dh who knows I love them and felt short changed. They are also no longer called a walnut whip!!! Just a whip!!! Seemingly its the price of walnuts. Cheap skates!

The m&s ones are not so good. The mousse filling is more like marshmallow and the chocolate lacks texture.
What a fucking liberty!

IncyWincyGrownUp · 22/01/2018 19:53

You can’t get a bar of whole nut any more either. The nuts are cheap, horrid, nasty chopped nuts now, and that’s without talking about the abomination that is the state of Cadbury ‘chocolate’ these days.

LloydColeandtheCoconuts · 22/01/2018 19:54

I hate the walnuts. Give me a chocolate blob anyday.

mrsharrison · 22/01/2018 19:55

Tis true cadbury has lost its magic.

FuzzyCustard · 22/01/2018 19:56

incyWincy I repeat my Lidl love. Almond and hazelnut both have big fat plentiful whole nuts in. (and the hazelnut choc is 65p). Squirrels love it.

BellyBean · 22/01/2018 19:59

My allergic DH will be so pleased. Though I've always had one in my stocking so that's one tradition that will die

MrsWineasaurus · 22/01/2018 20:01

I don't like walnuts so used to pick that off and eat the rest.

Hallelujah!

woodhill · 22/01/2018 20:04

Yes a real shame

Rebeccaslicker · 22/01/2018 20:05

I hadn't heard about this!!

M&S all the way. They do a salted caramel one, it's lush.

neveradullmoment99 · 22/01/2018 20:06

It traditionally had a walnut on it :(

It was the whole point of a walnut whip
I grew up with them.
The top of it now looks 'empty' and wrong!

gabsdot · 22/01/2018 20:07

There is a piece of confection called a whip. It's the walnut whip without the walnut.
That's probably what you've had.

Basseting · 22/01/2018 20:07

Aldi dark chocolate Whole Nut chocolate is AMAZING

Walnut whips are now a travesty.
M&S ones are good but not quite the same.

neveradullmoment99 · 22/01/2018 20:10

Gabsdot if you read the article they have replaced them Shock They are not called a whip.

OP posts:
mrsharrison · 22/01/2018 20:10

It's Hotel Choclat for me now or m&s mountain bars. Cadbury and nestle are on the slagheap.

neveradullmoment99 · 22/01/2018 20:10
  • Sorry that should have read, they have now replaced them with the name whip

How is removing the walnut 'dumbing down'? ConfusedGrin

zeezee3 · 22/01/2018 20:12

WTF no way.

So it's just a whip then? Sad

And yeah to Cadburys choc bars and milk tray mostly tasting like cack now.

Only the dairy milk is OK!

rainbownights · 22/01/2018 20:13

The walnut was the best bit!

iamyourequal · 22/01/2018 20:17

...and Revels don't have peanuts anymore. The Western world is just not a welcoming place to the humble nut any longer....it is sad.

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 22/01/2018 20:17

I've never even had a walnut whip and I STILL share your outrage.

What's next? Peanut butter with no peanuts?

Shockers · 22/01/2018 20:21

I was being lighthearted, but lots of things actually seem to be being made simpler for those who don’t want leave their comfort zones and try different things- especially children. Food has taken a big hit; blended sauces and smoothies, so the fruit and veg is hidden etc.

BuckysRoboticArm · 22/01/2018 20:23

You can still find walnut whips on their own, but they will always be whips in the 3 pack from now on. This is what my dp told me at xmas anyway? He knows my walnut whip weakness and immediately googled it after buying me a pack was 3 boxes

Ruined my Christmas it did. Angry

neveradullmoment99 · 22/01/2018 20:26

I am not sure if it is the multipacks. Somehow I don't think so. Read the article I posted above. It is down to the rise in the price of walnuts.

OP posts:
neveradullmoment99 · 22/01/2018 20:26

That should have said, I am not sure if it is only the multipacks.

OP posts:
neveradullmoment99 · 22/01/2018 20:28

In other words, its nothing to do with offering consumer choice. It seems to me they have removed the walnuts but there are a few packs still floating around.
They have introduced a mint whip and a caramel one but again, without the walnut.
