To want to buy a dress with pockets

I am determined to buy clothes with pockets. It is too annoying not having them.

So, I need semi-smart dresses for work that are practical for working in reception with a bunch of messy 4/5 year olds, not too expensive (up to £50 would be OK I think) that have pockets. Can I find anything anywhere?? Not a sniff. AIBU? Can you help me?

Came in to say Lily and Me but someone has beaten me to it. Love the dresses I have from them, easy to wear and wash.

I find Seasalt true or a little bigger to size.....16.....might be able to get away with 14 but haven't tried.

Neverender · 17/01/2018 20:54

I got one in Primark for a tenner.

You should totally make & sell those pinny belts! They’re fab Grin

storynanny · 17/01/2018 22:45

Thank you stephi! Some of the little girls in my last reception class were always asking to wear mine so they could play at being the teacher.

CakeNinja · 17/01/2018 22:48

Agree with those who have suggested Boden!
I also work in a school, clothes without pockets are SO IMPRACTICAL Shock
I put pens in my hair sometimes but pockets are just so handy.

PlaymobilPirate · 19/01/2018 18:26

Did you find anything you like op? I'm after something heavyish with pockets to wear over a long sleeved shirt 😁

emma6776 · 19/01/2018 18:44

It’s already been recommended but the Hush Ivy dresses are lush - I now have all the colours. So easy to dress up or down. Wear with tights or leggings now and bare legs when it warms up. Size down - I’m a 12/14 and a size small in Hush (& could have got an XS)

sonjadog · 19/01/2018 19:00

How short is the Hush Ivy dress in real life? It seems to vary a lot on the models and I can´t decide if it would be too short for me or not.

clippityclock · 19/01/2018 19:21

Lindybop dresses have pockets, they are great.

StringandGlitter · 19/01/2018 19:24

Another vote for White Stuff. If you sign up for their email newsletter they sometimes send out 10% and 20% discount codes.

VioletCharlotte · 19/01/2018 19:30

Doesn't putting things in pockets ruin the line of your dress though? I don't use trouser pockets for the same reason.

HopelesslyHopeful87 · 19/01/2018 19:59

I just bought a pinafore from new look that has pockets and it was only about £20. Grey checked. Looks great with black turtle neck.

emma6776 · 19/01/2018 20:28

The Hush one isn’t short in me. A inch or so above my knee - I’m 5ft 6”

PlaymobilPirate · 19/01/2018 20:31

Tempted by the Hush but I'm short - only 5'2" and a 16... heading into a 14.

PickAChew · 19/01/2018 23:08

Seasalt is slightly generous. I'm a 12-14 and even though I'm closer to 14, ATM, their 12s are still good on me. Apart from one of my sailor tops, which has shrunk after 2 years of wear.

Nomad Clothing

Monki do lots of dresses with pockets. I bought one of their oversized sweatshirt dresses recently and it is the best thing ever.

On the other side of the coin, last year I saved up for my dream shearling coat that I’d been lusting after forever. It was a complete splurge at over £600, and when it arrived it didn’t have pockets! A winter coat without pockets! FFS. It got sent straight back. Gutted.

melj1213 · 20/01/2018 00:41

LindyBop! They make amazing dresses that are slowly taking over my wardrobe!

I love their dresses, most have decent sized pockets and they have some quirky designs that I used to love wearing when i worked with primary school kids.

PlaymobilPirate · 20/01/2018 11:01

Does Hush do discount codes? Never bought from them before!

SD1978 · 22/01/2018 16:36

Whole range in different colours from fat face and they are a nice length and flattering

PlaymobilPirate · 22/01/2018 19:18

I seriously need to get my head around spending money on myself... I've been so used to buying cheap dorothy Perkins dresses for 20 quid I'm really dithering over £50 for something nice.

I'm not completely skint (half decent wage) and would spend £50 on ds without worrying 😣

CakeNinja · 22/01/2018 19:19

Violet, working in a primary school, the last thing i worry or even think about is ruining the line of my dresses!! If I worked somewhere different, maybe I would Smile

Another one who won't buy clothes without pockets.
I won't wear trousers or skirts without pockets. I bought a TMLewin jacket with fake pockets once. I wanted it for work.
Fake pockets are aaaaaaargh! words fail me.

At work, I want to be able to carry keys and wallet with me. It's not practical to always carry a handbag.
