To want to buy a dress with pockets

I am determined to buy clothes with pockets. It is too annoying not having them.

So, I need semi-smart dresses for work that are practical for working in reception with a bunch of messy 4/5 year olds, not too expensive (up to £50 would be OK I think) that have pockets. Can I find anything anywhere?? Not a sniff. AIBU? Can you help me?

I have a few lovely smart-casual dresses and skirts by Louche (joy the store) that have decent pockets. Also think Joanie dresses have pockets!

I've just bought a dress from Weird Fish that has pockets but was in the sale and appears to have sold out. But they do have a couple more on the website that have small pockets.

Lots of lovely ideas on here, will be watching the thread to look at later.

Out of interest, what do you all put in your pockets?

For me, it's usually a tissue, a lighter, and sweet wrappers!

JaceLancs · 16/01/2018 10:06

I have a cotton Boden one with pockets and a jaeger jersey dress with packets
I also have a linen shirt dress from Tesco with pockets

redfragglebiker · 16/01/2018 10:06

Yumi dresses and Lindy Bob usually have pockets. Manteray at Debenhams usually have some pocketed dresses too.

I add pockets to dresses, they're easy enough to put one in a seam.

Things in my dress pockets- a tissue and random small bits my children hand to me.

StuntNun · 16/01/2018 10:08

All the dresses I've bought from Fat Face have pockets.

Joanie clothing

Dolly Pens, rubbers, post-it notes, note-pad, credit card, i-phone - things I need to hand, for a limited amount of time, while I'm conducting a specific task, carrying out the affairs of my life, and can't carry in my hands because I need both of them for another aspect of the immediate task.

I tried a wedding dress on with pockets, still regret not choosing it......

I have dresses from Joules with pockets.

Didntcomeheretofuckspiders · 16/01/2018 10:13

I second Joanie clothing! I recently ordered a stripey jersey dress in their sale (amongst other things) that a) has pockets and b) is the softest, comfiest thing I’ve ever worn! I’ve ordered another one in a slightly different style!

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 16/01/2018 10:14

I have two Joanie dresses with pockets, I bloody love them.

fizzicles · 16/01/2018 12:16

You lot are bloody brilliant, thank you! It is a feminist issue and I am pretty much refusing to buy anything without pockets anymore. But you have made my search much easier Grin

Another one here who doesn't buy dresses (or skirts or trousers) without pockets. Always keys in one pocket (house doors always locked) and when I go out need to add purse, phone and perhaps camera. Basically, I don't want to be worrying about where I've put my handbag, or if I emptied my coat pocket of valuables before I took it off.

polaricecaps · 16/01/2018 12:28

Have had dresses with pockets from White Stuff and MantaRay at Debenhams.

Have the same problem with trousers, it's ridiculous.

Wakeuptortoise · 16/01/2018 12:31

Most dry cleaners will do alterations if you have some clothes that need pockets already. A nice big zip pocket for my phone is a must.

tigerrun · 16/01/2018 12:33

I don't understand!! I hate pockets and actively avoid clothes with pockets (my hips are quite large and I have enough lumps and bumps without adding any!). Also the first thing I do with jeans and trousers is take out the internal front pockets and sew them shut. I feel like all the nice clothes already have pockets. Also as an aside also think men with pockets full of stuff ruining the line of their clothing look really awful, I don't discriminate - I think all pockets are hideous. Please don't start a campaign for pockets...!!

tigerrun · 16/01/2018 12:34

Oh blimey, now I've said/read the word 'pockets' so many times it sounds weird!

laurz75 · 16/01/2018 12:35

H&M do lovely thick jersey dresses with pockets for only £20...perfect for me -a fellow Year R teacher.

alphajuliet123 · 16/01/2018 12:39
