Would you buy this for a man?

Birthday present but I’m worried it’s for women only...so it says on the Web. I don’t think it’s very girly but do you think it’s ok for a man?

Nowhere does it say 'it's for women only'.

Personally I wouldn't buy it for anyone as it's not to my taste, but if I knew someone who would like it, I wouldn't let whoever the marketing was aimed at, put me off buying it for whoever I think would like it.

Why would anyone do that?

TroubledTribble28 · 16/01/2018 00:53

Absolutely fine for a man/boy. Men used to wear sovereigns on chains in the eighties, this has the same sort of style. Lovely choice op.

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 16/01/2018 00:54

I wouldn't unless it was specifically to his tastes.

It's not something you generally see men wear, is the guy you want to buy for more open with his style?

Crispbutty · 16/01/2018 00:55

Depends on the individual. Some men might like it, some won’t. Same as women.

CremeFresh · 16/01/2018 00:56

I don't have any men in my life that I would buy that for because they wouldn't like it. The question is whether the person you have bought it for would like it , if they would then it's fine.

steff13 · 16/01/2018 00:59

I think it's fine for a man. But, it's personalized, so I wouldn't buy it for anyone unless I was 100% sure they'd love it.

cathycake · 16/01/2018 01:23

Hi op I love the engraving of family names but think jewellery is very personal and I say mums neckace
You've asked for opinions and my honest one is I don't like it for a man.

Not on the high street have some gorgeous engraved men's stuff similar but with key fobs, cufflinks etc

That said if you love it and think recipient would too then go for it but I know my male family members would never wear it

Sorry Blush

CheapSausagesAndSpam · 16/01/2018 01:26

Only if I knew the man liked wearing necklaces and if I knew he'd like that style.

It's certainly not a very feminine piece....so if you think he'll love it, then it's suitable.

bemusedSpectator · 16/01/2018 01:32

Not a necklace but I bought a similar keyring one for DH.

I wouldn't buy a man jewelry of any kind I don't think.

HipNewName · 16/01/2018 01:38

My DH wouldn't like it or wear it. Other men would like it and wear it proudly. Does he wear chains?

NewYearNiki · 16/01/2018 02:02

It does kind of say it's a mums necklace in the description.

This personalised family tree with two ring necklace represents family and a mother's love.

I wouldn't buy it for anyone as it isnt my taste. To me it is as pointless as getting family names tattoed on you.

I know who my family are and I dont need engraved jewellery as a memento.

Id check first if he wants it before spending £200+ on non returnable engraved jewellery.

KC225 · 16/01/2018 02:08

I like the idea but its quite a statement piece, and I don't know many (any) men that wear jewellery other than wedding rings or occasional bangle if under 30.

Have you considered the same on a bookmark or a keyring?

GoBigOrange · 16/01/2018 02:14

Well, it isn't super-girly looking or anything, so don't let marketing put you off, but I honestly can't think of any men of my acquaintance who I think would willingly wear something like that. My own DH would certainly recoil in complete horror and think I'd lost my mind if I gave him something like that! So it would very much be down to the tastes of the man in question, and I'd have to be very sure he'd like it before I plonked down that much money!

Biker47 · 16/01/2018 02:15

I wouldn't wear it.

BulletFox · 16/01/2018 02:46

Personally, no.

But you know the bloke and would have an idea if it's to his taste.

Angrybird345 · 16/01/2018 03:27

No way!

Tinkofhousepan · 16/01/2018 03:49

I just asked my male best friend, we both think its fairly girly. And way to expensive for what it is! we are listening to West end musical songs.. currently call block tango, so we are no strangers to girly it would be great if it were £150 less and not the main present xx

Theresnonamesleft · 16/01/2018 04:21

No. And I wouldn't buy it for any of the females I know either, including myself.

For the price, it also looks very flimsy.

GlitterUnicornsAndAllThatJazz · 16/01/2018 05:21

I dont like it and dont know a man who would wear it

Timmytoo · 16/01/2018 05:33

My DP says he loves it and would definitely wear it.

HuskyMcClusky · 16/01/2018 05:52

No. The truth is, the men I know would not wear it.

flumpybear · 16/01/2018 05:55

Most men I don't think would wear it, but if your man is into this type of jewellery then go for it

Mummyoflittledragon · 16/01/2018 05:56

Tree of life is very earth mother to me. So no. Perhaps get him a chain. Dh has one from his mother and never takes it off unless he has to, which is very far.

Mummyoflittledragon · 16/01/2018 05:57

Very far? Very rare

Trashboat · 16/01/2018 06:08

I wouldn't buy it for any men I know, but that's because I don't know anyone who would wear it.

It's very expensive and doesn't look worth the money. It looks like something out of the Argos catalogue.

Sorry if I sound mean OP. I just think there are much nicer things to spend over £200 on.
