To not remember putting a condom in Dps glove box

DO came home from work today and after his usual 45 minute after-work-shit routine came into the kitchen, chuckled and grabbed his wallet, pulling out a condom and declaring he had found it in his glove box and 'couldn't remember whywe Put it in there'.
I laughed at his use of we and said why would I put a condom in your car? He chuckled again and left to go to his moms.

I'm left here completely confused. We have no use for condoms In the car and I definitely didn't put it there so why was It there in the first place? Why did he bring it up? Please help me make sense of it!

If he bought it up then he probably did think it was you, at least you didn't find it there yourself. Could one of his mates left it there by accident or as a joke?

IJoinedJustToPostThis · 08/01/2018 18:36

What's the expiry date on it?

Seems very weird to show it to you if there actually is anything untoward going on.

Have you got teenage/adult children?

Whiterabbitears · 08/01/2018 18:37

How long have you had your car? If not that long it could belong to a previous owner.

parklives · 08/01/2018 18:39

Do you have teenagers etc who use the car?

Have you recently mentioned rooting in the glovebox? If so, I’d say it’s a preemptive strike.

CantRememberHoliday · 08/01/2018 18:42

Could he be joking?

Littlelambpeep · 08/01/2018 18:46

Why would he show it to you ? Did it just fall out of his wallet ?

Badbadtromance · 08/01/2018 18:53

I say premptive strike

Somerford · 08/01/2018 18:53

Someone has played a daft joke on him if neither of you remember it. If he was having an affair I would imagine his thought process would be something like "why is there a condom in my car? Oh yeah, I've been having an affair. I won't mention it to my wife then".

I don't think you've got anything to worry about.

LineysRunes · 08/01/2018 18:56

I'm pissed off by the 45 minute shit and the double-chuckling. And I don't even know him.

TiffyTiffTiff · 08/01/2018 18:57

2 children but they are 1 and 2..had the car for about 2 years now. I previously mentioned looking in the glove box for my missing lipstick and did so but saw no condom in there and that was last week. Couldn't be a friend really as he drives to work and drives back and uses a company van for actual work. I just thought it was weird he starting accusing me of putting it there Confused

lineysrunes there have been plenty of arguments over his 45 minute shits, not to mention his hour long daily baths. Envy

Long shits and baths? I fear you're going out with my ex :(

Viviennebee · 08/01/2018 19:03

As pp's have said, I think its also pre-emptive. He's possibly worried you've already found it, kept quiet, and waiting to see if there are other clues to 'catch him out' regarding a possible affair.
If I were you I'd be keeping a very close eye on him.

Somerford · 08/01/2018 19:06

Either you missed it when you looked or it has appeared there somehow during the last week. If there is something going on and he put it there himself, he would definitely remember doing that during the last week and he would have got rid of it rather than presenting it to you the way he did. Try not to over think it, OP. If he was seeing someone else he would surely be very cautious and vigilant about things like this, it sounds very much like he hasn't been so honestly I wouldn't be worried.

I don't really suspect him being a cheat it's more he's turning it around on me as though I've put it there and he should be suspicious..even though I don't drive so don't use the car Hmm

45 minute shit? At tea time? That's a nope from me

Petalflowers · 08/01/2018 19:11

I don’t think it was in the glovebox at all. That was said to throw you off the scent.

He obviously had it in his wallet or had just grabbed it before going to his ‘mums’. Are you sure he has gone to his mum’s? Perhaps he thought you saw he getting it, hence the comment.

Is there any other suspicious behaviour? Does he take his phone in with him during his 45 minute stint. If so, could he be texting someone during this time?

Sorry to sound suspicious, but from what you said, you are certain no condom was in the glove box, so imdon’t Think it was there at all.

mummmy2017 · 08/01/2018 19:13

The simple answer is usually the truth..
One of his work mates chucked it in there for a laugh...
Your husband found the condom funny and shared the joke with you..

Your best response is too join in the joke, tell him it was one of the children when they borrowed the car last week.

Xihha · 08/01/2018 19:18

why is there a condom in my car? Oh yeah, I've been having an affair. I won't mention it to my wife then Grin

It's probably fallen out of something hes put in the glove box. I was sorting through old DVDs a while ago and found an out of date condom in the box, they'd been stored in the wardrobe for a while when we last moved so I assume it had fallen out of DHs jeans

mygorgeousmilo · 08/01/2018 19:25

Why do people always come up with these “his mates threw it in there” explanations? Exactly how immature are all of your OH’s mates? Feels like a preemptive strike to me. You mentioned you’d looked in the glove box. He’s wondering if...oh shit did you see that condom in there, and maybe you’ve been secretly seething without saying anything, now he’s doing a casual thing of saying he’s found it and it must have been you.

mummmy2017 · 08/01/2018 19:29

And why on so little evidence are you shouting affair.

Your detective skills need to be refined Milo.. as 1 and nothing don't equal affair.

Somerford · 08/01/2018 19:31

Why do people always come up with these “his mates threw it in there” explanations?

Because it's the most likely scenario and you're going to ruin someone's marriage if you persuade the OP that her husband is having an affair with absolutely no evidence other than an odd one-off occurrence. That ought to be enough I think.
