Deedee0208 · 30/12/2017 16:23

I've had enough of Christmas now and want to get my house back to normal, aibu to want this, son back at school Tuesday and hubby back at work same day, this weekend we have no plans so seems perfect for getting house back in order, hubby is totally disagreeing saying his doing it Tuesday evening, first day back at work so will probably be knackered, who's being aibu?

YANBU

Your suggestion sounds more practical. It feels like we have had our tree up forever, and I too want our house back to normal, so we will probably take ours down this weekend too.

StopFuckingAbout · 30/12/2017 17:07

We're doing it tomorrow. We put them up Christmas Eve, I want the space back now.

FourEyesGood · 30/12/2017 17:09

We took ours down this afternoon. The house looks so much better! Normality rules.

Deedee0208 · 30/12/2017 17:10

Glad someone agrees with me, hubby is such a know it all and his way is always the best way, gets on my bloody nerves living by his rules

Ours are down, I did it all this morning whilst DS was napping. So much space again Grin

RitaMills · 30/12/2017 17:11

I’m taking mine down on the 2nd, I’m going to miss how cozy the tree lights make the living room look. Going to go out and buy a nice big table lamp on the 3rd Grin

StopFuckingAbout · 30/12/2017 17:12

FourEyes I'm envious.

ShutUpBaz · 30/12/2017 17:12

YANBU, in fact very sensible.
I took ours down today and cleaned the entire house. DC go back to school on Wednesday and DH is working New Year (he's a PCSO). Christmas is over for me on 27th December when I go back to work normally, but this year it ended Christmas Day night when I started with a stomach bug. The appeal of the tree and decs ended then too.

SnowannaRainbow · 30/12/2017 17:12

I'd do it now rather than wait until you're back at work. Mine came down two days ago, I like my house tidy and clutter free for New Year.

dementedma · 30/12/2017 17:13

Will do ours Monday or Tuesday, but do find the tree pretty and sparkly and will actually miss it when it is down

olympicsrock · 30/12/2017 17:13

How miserable i’m Leaving mine up til 12th night

Birdshitbridgegotme · 30/12/2017 17:13

Lmao I took them down the day after boxing day!

RatOnnaStick · 30/12/2017 17:13

The only thing left here is the outside lights which will come down on Monday (because we can't be arsed til then). Kitchen tree went away a few days ago and the little living room tree came down this morning. Much beter.

Iprefercoffeetotea · 30/12/2017 17:14

We usually take our tree and decorations down on 1st Jan. We'll leave the cards up until 12th night though.

speakout · 30/12/2017 17:14

Yes tomorrow- otherwise it's Tuesday, and far more work then for the same reasons.
I want everything down, tree outside, boxes in the loft.

icandothis64 · 30/12/2017 17:20

Took mine down today. Will be busy for next two days so seized the opportunity to get the house in order. Plus it's always down to me to do it and I am going on a business trip on Tuesday for two weeks. DH complained that it 'wasn't even NYE yet!' But didn't offer to do it when I was away! Your house. Your job. Your choiceSmile

Gemini69 · 30/12/2017 17:21

miens where down Wednesday.... very soon I know.. but I love the clear spaces for Hogmanay Flowers

StopFuckingAbout · 30/12/2017 17:33

Why the 12th night? Is it a religion thing?

AdidasGirl · 30/12/2017 17:37

Took ours down the day after Boxing Day.Smile

allegretto · 30/12/2017 17:37

Why the 12th night?

It's tradition that Christmas celebrations last until the epiphany (6 Jan) when the three kings arrive.

Fundays12 · 30/12/2017 17:38

Mine came down yesterday they were making my house look messy and annoying me.

notacooldad · 30/12/2017 17:39

I want our tree up a little longer.
However we put the tree up kate and have been working over Christmas.
Our never comes fown before the 12th night anyway.

mywayalltheway · 30/12/2017 17:40

We always take ours down 1st Jan although I'm twitching to do them now

1happyhippie · 30/12/2017 17:41

I took all mine down today, I'm back at work Monday and have plans for tomorrow so today seemed right.
I love it when they come down and everything looks so spacious again!
We were late putting ours up this year too, so they weren't even up long.

Buxbaum · 30/12/2017 17:43

Why the 12th night? Is it a religion thing?

Christmas is a twelve-day festival. Christmas Day is the first day of Christmas. Epiphany (6 Jan) is a bigger deal in many European countries than Christmas Day.
