I've had enough of Christmas now and want to get my house back to normal, aibu to want this, son back at school Tuesday and hubby back at work same day, this weekend we have no plans so seems perfect for getting house back in order, hubby is totally disagreeing saying his doing it Tuesday evening, first day back at work so will probably be knackered, who's being aibu?

Usually I wait till 6th Jan, but this year I'm taking down 2/3, Nursery starts back Monday 8, want ds to have few days normality, and let reality that Christmas is over sink in, rather than leave it till 6th

SkeletonSkins · 30/12/2017 17:44

Mine are down, came down today. I like having a fresh house for New Year's Day.

Buxbaum · 30/12/2017 17:44

I am looking forward to the Squash and a Squeeze effect of the living room suddenly appearing massive, however.

khajiit13 · 30/12/2017 17:45

Just do it. I took mine down on boxing day but I do have a very active inquisitive kitten...

Maddiemademe · 30/12/2017 17:46

Taken mine down but then I am moving in 3 weeks so I have started the packing today. Love it when they are up but love it even more when they come back down. Feels lovely and spacious with them fine (but that might have something to do with half the lounge packed in boxes in the garage).

Maddiemademe · 30/12/2017 17:46

*gone not fine

OvO · 30/12/2017 17:56

I just put mine UP today. Xmas Grin

I moved just before Christmas so we only had a titchy wee tree up (threw away old big tree before moving) and I've just bought a new one in the sales so put it up to make sure it's okay. I luffs it so will be keeping it up for ages yet.

But yanbu, OP.

Deedee0208 · 30/12/2017 17:57

Still won't change his mind, they get boxed up and put in the loft so have to rely on him doing them, can't get up to the loft myself because of disability, would do it myself otherwise

Can you not compromise and do it on Monday before he's back at work? I always take mine down new years day as to me Christmas is officially over then. Might get rid of the cards tomorrow though because they're annoying me. I will miss the sparkly tree lights though.

Els1e · 30/12/2017 18:02

Our tree and decorations come down today. We are away for a few days from tomorrow visiting relatives and felt we wanted to come back to a calm space at end of week.

daisychain01 · 30/12/2017 18:03

DH has just put everything away in the loft.

Living room looks sad without the lovely tree and lights but it is much tidier now!

OP tell your DP he's been outnumbered by MN!

speakout · 30/12/2017 18:07

I must be a bully.

My Oh doesn't get a say.

Christmas tree comes down tomorrow- I haven't even told OH.

What are his reasons for not taking the tree down?

SillyBub · 30/12/2017 18:08

Done today. Normally we do it on New Year's Day but we're back to work and school on Tuesday, so will be busy getting ready for the week ahead. Urrrgghhh.

2anddone · 30/12/2017 18:10

Mine is coming down tomorrow, I like them all packed away before dc return to school. This year it’s 3rd Jan and as we have plans New Year’s Day and I am not running myself ragged the day before school goes back tomorrow it is!!

StopFuckingAbout · 30/12/2017 18:10

Thanks :) I was curious.

Robots1Humans0 · 30/12/2017 18:11

Mine were down Boxing Day Xmas Grin heavily pregnant with chance of an early section , the tree was down at earliest opportunity hah! It’s usually down before New Years anyway, I like the house reset to see the new year in .

csigeek · 30/12/2017 18:12

Nope, took ours down on Thursday!

HashtagTired · 30/12/2017 18:14

I took ours down yesterday. I needed to get the house in order again and I have to have an organised house in time for the new year.

Deedee0208 · 30/12/2017 18:19

He hasn't got a reason, he will always go opposite what I say, if I say it's black he will insist it's white, bloody know it all that knows nothing

OP posts:
chocolateworshipper · 30/12/2017 18:22

I do mine a bit at a time to avoid the moaning. Cards were down today but won't take the last bits down until after New Year

neveradullmoment99 · 30/12/2017 18:22

No school here until the 8th January so am keeping up until the 2nd or 3rd depending upon what I am doing. I kind of feel xmas is over but i like to have it up on New Years eve.

Appleandcinnamon · 30/12/2017 18:23

All came down today tree kept dropping needles and driving me up the wall

alfagirl73 · 30/12/2017 18:29

I tend to put mine up quite early but I like them down for New Year - I like the house feeling all fresh and clean for Jan 1st.

ReanimatedSGB · 30/12/2017 18:30

I usually take it all down when DS goes back to school, because I like to keep the festive mood till at least after New Year's Day. Though I will probably put the stuff away Friday this year as school isn't till January 8th.

bushtailadventures · 30/12/2017 18:31

We got everything put away today, apart from the paper chains which stay up until 12th Night then go into the recycling bin. I have to leave something up until 12th night or it feels wrong (I blame my gran for that)

It was so nice to get the living room back to normal, and find room properly for the new toys that are taking over my house Smile
