To really hate Christmas jumpers?

Just that really.

They’re bloody everywhere, all looking cheap, misshapen, gaudy, covered in cringe slogans and only good for wearing approx 3 weeks of the year (so also a waste of money potentially).

Maybe it’s because I’m getting old and crabbit but I remember when dressing up for Christmas used to be about elegance, not Bob from accounts with his Primark Rudolph pullover or your cousin Mel with some ghastly “#team naughty” sweater that’ll bobble and shrink after one wash at 40.

Meh. I just think they look shite, they’ve really become a “thing” past few years and and I get the feeling I’m in a huge minority by wanting to burn the lot of ‘em.

I haven’t bought them for my kids this year. I managed to stretch out the wear of a slightly Christmassy fair isle jumper from last year for my DS. And a stuffed my 20 month old into her baby jumper somehow from last year.
I am thinking of striking Christmas jumper day at school on the grounds it isn’t good for the environment. Ds doesn’t wear jumpers at any time of the year. Just long sleeve Cotton tops and a coat as he is a bit of a hot bod so her doesn’t even get wear out of them in December.
But I will prob relent and buy them in the sales in Jan for next year as don’t want to be that parent on his first year of school! Maybe will try and source a Christmassy cotton top.

The plenty of Christmassy t shirts and tops and dresses available as alternatives. And plenty of cheap diy options-I've got loads of mileage this year from a black t shirt with 3 red parcel rosettes stuck down the front. Pinterest has some great suggestions.

Aibu to feel let down by family at Christmas. I’ve 2 siblings, an elderly DM and adult niece and nephew - we are all pretty close. They are all a plane ride away and this year is the first in a long time I won’t be able to spend part of the holiday period with them. Postie has just been and with one postal day to go I’ve not received a single card much less a gift. I sent cards and gifts to all of them safely delivered over a week ago. I’m going to be gutted if nothing atrives tomorrow. It’s not like I’m not busy - I’ve a senior management job and have had to do 2 separate jobs in two organisations (due to a secondment) in December as well as travel to another continent. It took a lot of effort to make sure I bought and posted thoughtful gifts and am sad they don’t seem to have thought about me at all.
On the positive side my daughter is home from uni and I’ll spend Christmas with her, my DP and PIL 🌲
