I love the rationale that says that taking back a gift is 'low class' and yet hijacking a gift for someone else and selling it on eBay to buy gifts for other people is ethically fine.

IMO, given it’s now evening in Aus, and CF/CFDH have not been in contact, either you need to let it go, or go round there. CFDH obviously hasn’t been in touch, or done anything about it since the drinks with your DH, so is highly unlikely to do anything. Either get more proactive and go to the house, or cut all contact and accept you’ve paid for their entire Christmas . Can’t see any other option given the time this has gone on for. CFDH will
Probably tell your DH (sheepishly) ah well, you k ow what CF is like, but it’s still me missus, can’t teally force it, and assume that your DH and himself will be able to continue being friends.
