AIBU?

To expect BMW drivers NOT to overtake on a (mini) roundabout?

Is it too much to ask? Or are ALL BMW drivers so arrogant as to think the world revolves around them (especially X5 drivers)?

afraid so!! i have banned all friends and family from EVER having bmw's!!

although i have a very sexy male admirer who drives an X5 so i may be able to make an exception in his case!!!!

An X5 is a 4x4, I take it?

I must say I have seen other drivers do this, in other cars (esp Golf, and vans), the common factor being that they have all been driven by men.

Hard to say what is the defining factor in wanky driving.

Was he a Bald Middleaged Wanker?

Yes, X5 is 4 x 4

No, you cannot make an exception for the male admirer, nearlythere. Think about WHAT MADE HIM BUY IT THE FIRST PLACE!

Yes, hard to say what defining factor is in bad driving, but BMW's (male AND female) seem to treat me much more badly than white vans - or maybe I am more forgiving of white vans.

Actually, I don't associate BMW drivers with anything negative. A few years ago BMWs with blacked out windows were definitley pimp/drug dealer cars in S London - but now they all drive huge landrovers - or BMW or Lexus 4x4s.

Yeah, it was prob the 4 x 4 PLUS BMW thing that got my goat. 'I'm bigger than you so I can push in front of you on the roundabout'. So childish...

lol! we have recently bought a bmw and am conscious of much less courtesy from other road users now than with our old car... we are not driving any differently than we did before.

Small boys stare at our Land Rover - not sure why - probably cos it's so damn noisy!

MerryMarigold · 19/04/2007 12:26

sorry about that, bossykate. i try to be courteous to everyone. let me people go in front of me, when appropriate etc. but i guess if you join a club of rude drivers, you will be tarred a little with the same brush. sell it and buy something else!

nearlythere, you now have an ice-breaking question?

what made you buy your X5, sexy admirer? i hope it wasn't to compensate for the size of any part of your body!

cars jump out of my way- people look at my pt cruiser and usually wonder what the hell it is and where the hell it came from, but its quite an intimidating sight- a crazy lady in a scary pink car!!!

BMW drivers can't help themselves it must be the polish they use on the dashboard- turns perfectly nice, reasonable people into total and utter w***s on the road!!

I've got a BMW and I promise I'm not arrogant at all . When driving on the motorway I do seem to negative responses from MEN who can't stand a young(ish) female driving a nice car - they can't wait to overtake me....and it's not like I'm driving particularly slowly either

ohh mm- believe me it wasn't- we know each other in the biblical sense from years back! i think actually it may be a company car in which case he does have an excuse!! doesn't he!!!!

ooooh, a pink car . I asked DH if we could have the Landy sprayed pink, and he said yes, but then he would have to divorce me!

I was about to forward this thread to you, BK.

But you see, we Punto drivers just get patronised - people feel sorry for us and let us go first as if we were infirm.

i admit to taking pity on volvo drivers around here they are either infirm or coppers! neither option i would like following me so i let them out first!!!

Report

MerryMarigold · 19/04/2007 12:33

i'd rather be patronised than beaten up

surely you wouldn't want to follow an infirm driver going 20 miles an hour in a 60 speed limit! you may need to overtake them on a roundabout!

Of course you're being completely unreasonable - they are BMW drivers after all... and don't get me started on Audi drivers......

Report

nearlythere · 19/04/2007 12:43

the infirm ones usually fall off the road within a few metres so they aren't a worry lol

MerryMarigold · 19/04/2007 12:43

I have no idea of the prices of posh cars, but I would rather have an Audi or a Saab than a BMW. Just because of the image.
