To expect BMW drivers NOT to overtake on a (mini) roundabout?

Is it too much to ask? Or are ALL BMW drivers so arrogant as to think the world revolves around them (especially X5 drivers)?

me too! I got even more hassle when I drove my A4 though...

Manictigger · 19/04/2007 13:08

And you want sympathy ?!

Gingermonkey · 19/04/2007 13:26

I've had an X5 (2 in fact) and now have a Range Rover (and they have all had blacked out windows and the RR in particular looks like I am a dodgy drug dealer!!!) and I am very nice and I let people out all the time. In fact I drive like more of a tit when I am driving my Mini . Dh actually looks a bit like a drug dealer too (big bloke, shaven head, casually dressed all day, doesn't work regular hours.....) I don't let bus drivers or taxis out though, because they don't let anyone out and they block pedestrian crossings.

hunkermunker · 19/04/2007 13:29

Haha, I used to work for BMW

Don't have one though.

mateychops · 19/04/2007 13:32

MM, you must have been driving badly, that's all I can say. BMW drivers are FANTASTIC, it's everyone else that's the problem.

bossykate · 19/04/2007 13:44

but i guess if you join a club of rude drivers, you will be tarred a little with the same brush

actually i find that bloody rude

mateychops · 19/04/2007 13:53

Jealous are we? 'cos I drive such a fantastic car in such a brilliant way?

nearlythere · 19/04/2007 14:00

oh bugger,
i'm sitting here agreeing with everyone about the arrogance and general shame of bmw ownership and the sexy man has just turned up and stuck his head through my window to see if me and the staff want to join him and his staff for a bbq tomorrow lunch time!

i'm changing sides- bmw's aren't all that bad!!

mateychops · 19/04/2007 14:01
Grin
TheShopaholic · 19/04/2007 14:08

oh go for it

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 19/04/2007 14:09

Viscountess has a Landy

I still have my old Series III that the DCs and their friends like to play in. And yes, they do make boys stop, open mouthed (we call it the Landrover Petrificus Totalus effect).

It might be able to overtake a beetle on a roundabout. And I don't mean the VW sort of Beetle.

nearlythere · 19/04/2007 14:11

slight problem- i would end up infatuated as i did many years ago (he is like a greek god- and still holds a torch for me!!)

BUT

i'm now married with kids- so i have to grow up and resist these out of character urges to jump on him- must be my hormones!!

TheShopaholic · 19/04/2007 14:14

oh yes, then you have a problem - leave him alone!!!!!

nearlythere · 19/04/2007 14:17

just because the shop's shut, doesn't mean i can't do a little window shopping!!!!

i'll just sit and swoon silently, but i think it is in the interests of local business partnerships that we join his lot for the bbq tomorrow, and anyway my girls are all quite obsessed with the sexy young things that work with him!!!

TheShopaholic · 19/04/2007 14:30

totally agree, nothing wrong with window shopping at all

Furrymummy · 19/04/2007 16:45

You are totally unreasonable. Don't you know that BMW drivers own the road? Indicators are optional extras and they have a special button that allows them to move straight into Lane 3 from the sliproad onto the motorway.
How dare you get in the way of the BMW with your unworthy scab car!
I nearly got ran into by a BMW driver who wouldn't slow down from 90 when I was cruising at 70 past a slip road he wanted to go down. Tosser. I know one BMW driver who is nice, and I'm sure there are lots of others too. But it seems to me in my 60 mile round trip up and down the A19 every day that way too many people driving big German executive saloons (I've seen this attitude with Audi and Merc drivers as well)need lessons in being courteous to people who don't drive posh fancy cars.

FoghornLeghorn · 19/04/2007 16:46

Nope ! I used to drive a BMW 3 series and I am a lovely driver

Furrymummy · 19/04/2007 16:48

My faith in humanity is restored

hana · 19/04/2007 16:48

oh foghorn, snap.
A Very Considerate Driver, me

hana · 19/04/2007 16:49

do people really see a BMW and think these things? Really?

bossykate · 19/04/2007 16:59

hana, i honestly think they do, i've been treated noticeably worse by other road users since we've had ours. will see what dh thinks.

hana · 19/04/2007 17:00

maybe I'm just not aware of it
hardly drive it though, dh calls it our expensive tesco trolly....

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 19/04/2007 17:04

I rarely notice makes of car - they all look the same.

At least they do from high up in my Range Rover

Gingermonkey · 19/04/2007 17:42

lol norks!

MerryMarigold · 20/04/2007 11:24

sorry, bossykate. didn't mean to make you angry. but i am feeling scarred by one to many run-ins with rude BMW drivers. i'm sure you're not an arrogant driver, but many are - and that's why they have this reputation. it's not just jealousy (i am fine with audi, saab, merc, lexus).
