Jacket potatoes - help settle an argument

Hmmingbird · 26/11/2017 16:54

Following on from a conversation with a friend, I just want to know who is being unreasonable.

I eat the whole jacket potato, skin and all. The skin is the best bit (provided not burnt) IMO.

My friend thinks this is totally wrong, and says the skin is nasty.

Who is right in this instance? Surely everyone eats the skin!

She IBU.

beargryllshasabigrope · 26/11/2017 16:55

You are. Not only is the skin tasty, but it’s full of nutrients too!

Katescurios · 26/11/2017 16:55

Skin is the best bit as long as its crispy

FrogFairy · 26/11/2017 16:56

I bet she cooks hers in the microwave. The skin can taste bitter.

I love a baked spied with crispy oven baked skin so I am with you all eating it all.

LazySusan11 · 26/11/2017 16:56

Clearly your friend ibu the skin is the best part! especially when it's crispy and it contains lots of nutrients apparently.

ZaraW · 26/11/2017 16:56

You are right.

jarhead123 · 26/11/2017 16:56

Skin is the best bit! She's weird

AlternativeTentacle · 26/11/2017 16:56

Oven baked, you are right. Microwave - she is right.

loobyloo1234 · 26/11/2017 16:56

I dont eat the skin but I dont think either of you are wrong or right. More a personal preference

SauvignonBlanche · 26/11/2017 16:56

Your friend IBVU and a bit stupid.

DramaAlpaca · 26/11/2017 16:56

You are right. The skin is the best bit, as long as it's crispy.

toffee1000 · 26/11/2017 16:56

Ooh yes love the skin! It’s where all the nutrition is too.

Fairylea · 26/11/2017 16:56

You are right.. but having worked in catering I wouldn’t eat the skin anywhere other than home as I wouldn’t be sure they were washed! (Obviously I washed them when I was on shift but plenty of others didn’t!)

Apocalyptichorsewoman · 26/11/2017 16:56

Skin is definitely the best bit!!

Hmmingbird · 26/11/2017 16:57

See, I don't even mind microwaved, I'll eat the skin whatever! Grin

ScreamingValenta · 26/11/2017 16:57

Another fan of the skin here!

MargaretCavendish · 26/11/2017 16:58

You are clearly correct. I just wanted to throw out that, for this very reason, the clearly single best way to cook jacket potatoes is a blast in the microwave for speed, followed by 20 mins in oven for lovely crispy skin.

Hmmingbird · 26/11/2017 16:59

Margaret - just thinking about that makes me want another one, and I've just scoffed an enormous one Smile

Pots have vitamin c most of which is just under the skin.

Discotits · 26/11/2017 17:00

Skin best bit

toffee1000 · 26/11/2017 17:00

Ooh I haven’t had a jacket potato in ages... slathered in butter and covered in cheese... drools

BumWad · 26/11/2017 17:00

Mmmm the skin is the best bit! 🤤

That1950sMum · 26/11/2017 17:01

She's very, very wrong.

bathandpjs · 26/11/2017 17:01

I never used to like the skin, so 2 years ago I would have said YABU, but now I love it so she IBU!

HidingBehindTheWallpaper · 26/11/2017 17:02

Mmmmm. Lovely crispy skin

She is very wrong.
