Christmas trees up in November???

Since when was this a thing? Suddenly an increasing number of people are putting up trees and decorations because it’s now early November? What?!! It is nowhere near Christmas. What is the point?

I still have a lit star up from last year. It was so nice I didn't want to take it down.
Happy with candles and fairy lights all year. Nothing else until December. It feels too cluttered to me.

MsHarry · 04/11/2017 09:57

Saw first set of decs last night. Bonkers people imo. Has to be at least December for me and then at least the second week in.

MsHarry · 04/11/2017 10:01

Yes people can do what they like in their own home but I will judge them. Seriously, there is something not right about having your tree up now.

LagunaBubbles · 04/11/2017 12:04

Gosh people do care because if they didn't it wouldn't bother them what decorations other people put up though. Just as well I don't care what other people think. We enjoy them for as long as possible and that's the main thing rather than others thinking it's common, insane, ridiculous etc.

LagunaBubbles · 04/11/2017 12:05

Whereas I think there's something not right about others caring about when other people put their decorations up.

MsHarry · 04/11/2017 12:34

I don't CARE Laguna I just think it's weird for that split second I see them and when someone starts a thread on it I'll give my opinion.

Namethecat · 04/11/2017 12:37

I get my candles out (Yankee christmassy smells) and a house you put tea lights in plus a battery candle in a latern in November to cost up the house in the evening.

LagunaBubbles · 04/11/2017 12:42

Each to their own then MsHarry, I certainly dont waste any mental time judging people for things I don't care about. Couldnt care less how people decorate their own homes, don't care if they don't put Christmas decorations up at all. But it certainly seems as if some people care the other way round! Anyway won't be the last thread like this knowing Mumsnet! Grin

MsHarry · 04/11/2017 13:01

Oh we all make mental judgements about everything, it's called being human. Unless of course you are the exception. Oh no , there you go you've judged MN! Wink

ForagingForFaerieGold · 04/11/2017 13:22

I have candles and fairy lights all year but don't go full Christmas until the 1st weekend in Dec. Because I haven't bought my requisite bundle of (essential) new deccies that I must have every year, yet. Grin
Love Christmas but when I see trees up in November it does amuse me. It's definitely too soon. However, I see it in much the same way as I see the houses that are just covered in lights and assorted festive crap. It's not for me but it's nice that they are so excited.
Doesn't stop me and DH going round the neighbourhood for a good chortle though. 😂

There's a house near us which already has a tree up, lights on the shrubs in the garden and lights in the windows. I see it most times I go for an evening run, it just makes me think "Oh, there's the house with all the lights, only a quarter of a mile to go now." Smile
