To think DD should vomited by now?

I know this a strange question.

Obviously I would prefer my child to be well than ill and I'm sure we've gotten off lightly but is it strange than DD has never vomited at 4.5 years old?

Other than bringing up milk as a baby she's never been sick. We've had colds & runny bottoms but never actually any vomit.

I'm not complaining as tbh I'm not good with sick anyway but I'm just curious as to whether it's unusual? All my parent friends have cleaned up their fair share of puke.

My 3.5 year old has had two sickness bugs so far. I too have no idea what’s normal so will follow this thread with interest.

notmaryberry · 29/10/2017 09:28

My DD is 15 and only vomited once when she had appendicitis. My youngest is 9 and has probably been sick about 4 times.

CuppaSarah · 29/10/2017 09:31

My dd always vomits when she gets a tummy bug. Ds always has diarrhoea, and never vomits. I usually vomit, dh usually has diarrhoea, some people are just more likely to do one rather than others. It's like cat or dog people. Marmite livers and haters etcWink

Cakesprinkles · 29/10/2017 09:32

DS has only had two sickness bugs that I can remember, but has been sick through coughing/gagging on food more frequently than that. He’s 5 1/2. I do certainly think that some kids are more sicky than others. He gets coughs and colds more.

Brakebackcyclebot · 29/10/2017 09:33

My eldest is 13. He has been sick 3 times in his entire life. Just lucky!

Tilapia · 29/10/2017 09:35

I have three DC (age 8 to 12) and I can only think of two vomiting incidents in total between the three of them. Touch wood!

BikeRunSki · 29/10/2017 09:35

My dc have probably only committed 2 or 3 times each, at 6 and 9. Once was after 9 days of IV antibiotics and 2 weeks or oral ab’s- I think his stomach had just had enough! Apart from hyperemisis, i’m not really a sicky person either.

Equimum · 29/10/2017 09:36

DS1 is nearly five and has only been sick once. Even as a baby, he only posited a couple of times. I was horrified when DS2 came along and positted on a daily basis!

Hotheadwheresthecoldbath · 29/10/2017 09:37

DD 14,sick twice in her life.

shouldnthavesaid · 29/10/2017 09:37

I'm the opposite , I rarely go a month without being sick and have been that way since born (26 years). Family call me the exorcist - known triggers are periods, pain, needles, anxiety, tiredness, dairy, meat, greasy food, anaesthetics, antibiotics and painkillers. I've vomited in school, uni halls, most forms of public transport, cars, GP surgery, most relatives houses, church, in the street ... if there's something that can upset my stomach it will do.

Sister is two years younger than me and has only been sick about 4 times in her life.

Lifeisforliving25 · 29/10/2017 09:39

I never vomited really until morning sickness when I was pregnant 😂

Iamagreyhoundhearmeroar · 29/10/2017 09:39

It's quite normal, op. I can't actually remember the last time one of my kids vomited, and I've got three.

BarryTheKestrel · 29/10/2017 09:41

My DD is 2.5 and had a sickness bug this time last year, 24 hours of non stop vomit. However that was the first and last time to date. Both me and DH are rarely sick so im hoping she stays that way. Saying that she never gets more than a sniffle either, I'm dreading her starting nursery or school as I'm sure she'll then catch everything.

DancingLedge · 29/10/2017 09:43

People differ in surprising ways.
I once said to a friend in utter disbelief, " hang on, you live with 3 children, aged from 3 - 10, and no one has ever vomited on you? How is that even possible?" One of hers had been sick, for the first time...

Antisocialarsebadger · 29/10/2017 09:44

I don't think ds was sick until he was about 7 or 8 and only once since then
. He's 11

Finola1step · 29/10/2017 09:44

Be careful what you wish for. My ds was like this. Went from 8 months to 6 years without vomiting once. And then threw up all over me on my 40th birthday. Then nothing again until my 41st birthday. I kid you not.

Procrastination4 · 29/10/2017 09:45

27 yr old son vomited once in his life when he had food poisoning (and has never bought a ready made chicken sandwich since!) and my 23yr old has never vomited. My husband never vomits either. Sometimes if he has stomach ache he’ll say “if only I could get sick I’d feel better”, but I’m kind of glad he doesn’t!

IDidContact · 29/10/2017 09:46

I agree that some people just don’t vomit as much as other people. I was sick twice as a child under 8 and then not again until I started drinking at 18! Even now everyone in the family can have a sickness bug and I will feel rough and maybe diarrhoea but not be sick. One of my kids is going the same way which I’m very happy about

Passthecake30 · 29/10/2017 09:46

Mine have been sick about 3 times in their life (8&9). Hence I have been sick about 6 times in their life... as they always share their bugs with me Hmm

Ecureuil · 29/10/2017 09:46

DD1 is 3.11, DD2 is 2.3 and neither have ever vomited behind baby posseting.
Before I had morning sickness (at 28) I hadn’t been sick since a coach trip when I was 12.

RavingRoo · 29/10/2017 09:47

I don’t vomit unless I’m so sick I need hospitalization. Seem to get diahrrhea instead.

timeistight · 29/10/2017 09:47

My two DDs had one sickness bug, that DD2 brought back from playgroup and which laid out the entire family in succession over ten days. Now grown up, they have had the occasional drinking accident resulting in a vom, but nothing else.

Neither ever vomited ON me.

confusedlittleone · 29/10/2017 09:49

So bloody jealous. I'm yet to go more then about 3 weeks without one of the dc vomiting.

speakout · 29/10/2017 09:52

My DD reached the age of 15 having never vomited, never posseted after milk, no calpol, no antibiotics, no medicine of any kind.

StealthPolarBear · 29/10/2017 09:54

Dd has only been sick twice in her life, once at nursery aged about two where she was more unnerved at what on earth was going on and the second time a few weeks ago
