I am a washing up liquid snob. I will only use fairy liquid. No cheaper version ever gets used in my house and if someone sneaks a bottle in I give it to my dm Grin

That’s because it is the BEST. One of the few branded products I’ll use over any others.

elfinpre · 25/10/2017 15:13

YABU. It's a waste of money. Also see branded washing tablets and the like and dishwasher tablets.

Anditstartsagain · 25/10/2017 15:13

Me too same with toilet paper.

Ohwell14 · 25/10/2017 15:15

I don't do it with anything else. I do all my shopping with Aldi, just oddly can't use any other washing up liquid and wouldn't even try it

Fairy fan here. It's the only brand I'm really loyal to. Nothing can beat it.

WhyteKnyght · 25/10/2017 15:16

I never understood this. I use the cheapest I can find. Together with hot water and elbow grease they all do the job just fine. Sometimes you have to use a bigger squirt if they are less concentrated, but it still works out much cheaper than buying the branded ones. I have just been on the "where have all the supermarket value products gone" and this is reminding me that it's one of the things I most resent having to buy "branded".

x2boys · 25/10/2017 15:17

Im not bothered about washing up liquid but I have to have a branded washing powder they smell much nicer imo.

elfinpre · 25/10/2017 15:17

If you paying more than a pound more per bottle for Fairy then you're a mug, not a snob.

Phosphorus · 25/10/2017 15:20

I used to only buy Fairy, but Aldi's Platinum one is exactly the same, so I buy that now.

Shadow666 · 25/10/2017 15:23

I can’t get on with cheap washing up liquid. I think it’s a false economy. The article says that Fairy came out top 6 times but the Aldi one beat it this time but is only available in limited stores.

Ohwell14 · 25/10/2017 15:25

I got the 780ml one for 1.50 today I do shop around when I buy fairy so I get it from the cheapest place Grin

lightgreenglass · 25/10/2017 15:27

I only buy fairy platinum as it does cut through the grease and it lasts ages. I tried switching and it took longer to wash my dishes. Same goes for dishwasher tablets - any other brand and the plates have muck left on them, it's partly because my dishwasher is a bit crap too.

PandorasXbox · 25/10/2017 15:33

Buy cheap buy twice/thrice even.

It’s false economy buying cheap washing up liquid, you need half a bottle every time you wash up.

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 25/10/2017 15:41

Fairy makes my hands really itchy! I use Ecover or Method.

owltrousers · 25/10/2017 15:42

I was the same until I discovered tesco do a rhubarb and rose scented one and its amaaaazing.

givemushypeasachance · 25/10/2017 15:43

I'm not fussy with brands and buy plenty of value, Lidl/Aldi and even stuff past it's best before from Approved Food - but for washing up liquid it has to be Fairy! Other stuff just doesn't work as well and you need to use loads or it doesn't cut through grease.

Steeley113 · 25/10/2017 15:43

Aldi one won awards over fairy. I was always a fairy girl until I washed up at my mums with Aldi orange one (pomegranate I think) and I was 100% converted.

BenLui · 25/10/2017 15:44

It’s not snobbery to be brand loyal to products that work well for you.

I will only buy Plenty kitchen roll. Everything else is a waste of money in my opinion.

Ceto · 25/10/2017 15:45

I won't buy Fairy because DH squirts the same amount into the bowl whether it's Fairy or Aldi's cheapest, despite my best endeavours to educate him that there's a difference. I'm not going to pay double for something that doesn't and can't last any longer.

flyingpigsinclover · 25/10/2017 15:45

We use fairy liquid because they sell massive catering packs in a local shop for £3 - they last about 6 months.

PutTheBunnyBackInTheBox · 25/10/2017 15:45

I'm a supermarket snob, I can't set foot in Tesco Blush

haveagobletofblood · 25/10/2017 15:45

Fairy costs about £1 per month, is it really worth buying cheap washing up liquid.

WhingyNinja · 25/10/2017 15:46

I like the Waitrose own ones, there’s a rosehip and apple blossom one that smells delicious. It’s a quid too!

WhingyNinja · 25/10/2017 15:47

And Regina Blitz is the best kitchen roll I’ve found!

Rafflesway · 25/10/2017 15:50

I have had a dishwasher for over 30 years now so haven’t bought washing up liquid in a very long time. However, I never bought Fairy as the smell of it was foul!

Definitely not a brand snob apart from instant coffee. Only Kenco decaf will do 😸.
