I am a washing up liquid snob. I will only use fairy liquid. No cheaper version ever gets used in my house and if someone sneaks a bottle in I give it to my dm Grin

FYI

Which? do really mad tests - ‘We pour a total of 1.2kg of animal fat onto 742 plates to find out the best washing-up liquids to buy for your kitchen’

Ewwwww

Anyway I’m sticking with the Aldi!

Fairy makes my hands really dry!!! I hate it, usually use Aldi.

Ohwell14 · 25/10/2017 15:56

Just realised I am a floor cleaner snob too. Only flash will do Grin

Aldo's washing up liquid has changed since that report and Survey. It's nowhere near as good as it was.

I buy fairy, in the largest bottle I can, when I see it on offer, or in discount shops. It works out the best value.

Ten years ago Morning Fresh was good, but then that changed and never went back to what it was.

I buy Nicky toilet roll, which for its price, is the best. I have to have at least three ply and quilted (but unsented).

Birdsgottafly · 25/10/2017 16:00

"Fairy makes my hands really dry!!! "

I don't wash up without rubber gloves. I carry a pair, to other people's houses, when going for a informal meal/barbecue, in case they haven't got any, so I can offer to muck in.

ToadTheVampireThreadKiller · 25/10/2017 16:02

I only ever use unperfumed washing up liquid, I don't want scented plates and pans. Anything plastic absorbs the perfume.

Goshthatwentwell · 25/10/2017 16:03

Well it's only being snobby if you think it's a better brand.

Years of product testing show that people are dicks about brand names. After all the massive mega corporations spend millions on branding so you'd hope they had got it right .

Waitrose own brand is consistently bottom of the pile in taste tests but the perception is still how lovely it all is.

confused123456 · 25/10/2017 16:03

I prefer fairy, but we do sometimes have cheaper brands as well. For washing powder I only really like the fairy non bio gel. I don't know what it is about any others but I just don't like them.
(Some things I think you can't beat the proper brand: fairy washing up liquid, proper coke, and Heinz ketchup are a few).

confused123456 · 25/10/2017 16:05

And unfortunately we aren't lucky enough to have room for a dishwasher, but if we did I'd get finish stuff for it.

NameChangeFamousFolk · 25/10/2017 16:07

I prefer Ecover! I'm a bit fussy about cleaning stuff. I only use Method around the house and I have quite a thing for different fragrances of fabric conditioners.

Ohwell14 · 25/10/2017 16:07

Can't beat original Ben and Jerry either but I do buy the aldi version aswell as it almost exactly the same

TroysMammy · 25/10/2017 16:08

I used to buy cheap washing up liquid but I found I used more, Fairy lasts me ages. I also use it neat on stains before putting the clothes into the washing machine. I won't buy any other brand now and only use the original Fairy.

NurseButtercup · 25/10/2017 16:09

YANBU.

I'm a Fairy Washing Up liquid die hard supporter. But I'm going to try the Aldi Platinum - thanks for the heads up.

Ttbb · 25/10/2017 16:10

I must admit that I can't stand the smell. Don't really wash dishes though so we just use whatever. Same goes for the fairy dishwasher tablets, the smell is unbarable which is sad because they work very well.

hiddley · 25/10/2017 16:15

I'm lol, as I'm just about to type this, there is an ad for Fairy on!

I'm an avid fan. I've tried every brand and own brand crap under the sun and they're gone in a few days. Fairy lasts about a month. £1 in Poundland.
Also find that Flash is your only man for floors.

Everything else I purchase is own brand (No aldi or Lidl near me).

Sweetpea55 · 25/10/2017 16:18

I love Fairy Power Spray...it get baked on stuff off in a twinkling

Goshthatwentwell · 25/10/2017 16:20

But it's being going for years and years. Life moves on. It won't be the same product you were using in the 80's or 90's and other brands will be changing too.

How on earth can you still claim it's the best"?

chaplin1409 · 25/10/2017 16:21

I normally use store own productsite but fairy washing up liquid is a must. I don't like the other brands. It's the same with washing powder/liquid for me it's got to be persil. I have tried others but I don't like either the smell or how they clean.

isseywithcats · 25/10/2017 16:25

i will quite happily use aldis washing up liquid but OH who does the washing up in our house is a snob he will only use fairy

sparechange · 25/10/2017 16:25

YABU because Method Clementine washing up liquid is obviously the best

whiskyowl · 25/10/2017 16:30

I actually find Fairy liquid less good than Aldi's Magnum Premium. I'm not saying that as some kind of reverse snobbery - I buy brand names regularly where they're better (Ariel)! But the Aldi one is actually thicker, stronger, and better at getting through grease.

Gingefringe · 25/10/2017 16:31

I was also a Fairy Liquid snob until I tried the Waitrose Essentials one - massive bottle for 83p and as good as fairy (if not better)

whiskyowl · 25/10/2017 16:31

(NB It has to be the Aldi one in a silver bottle - the standard one isn't as good)

Llamacorn · 25/10/2017 16:31

I only use the method ones, I buy them on offer though!

owltrousers · 25/10/2017 16:34

@PutTheBunnyBackInTheBox whats wrong with tesco?

I must admit though I can't go to asda, it stresses me out.
