Would I be a cf to ask !

Daughter age 4 is very excited about Halloween as first year she really understands it.
She has picked her costume and telling everyone about it.

Found out this morning her surgery admission date is Halloween 🙈

We live on a busy road but not really a family road, mainly shared houses of students and then some houses with lone couples so about 3 kids including 2 at mine on the whole road.

Would it be cheeky to knock on a few of the doors to ask if they didn't mind her coming and knocking a day early ( I could even provide the sweets )

Or would this be rude 🙈

I think if you provided the sweets then they wouldn't mind. No harm in asking, I would certainly oblige. Hope the surgery isn't too serious.

Students are usually friendly enough, I would offer to provide the sweets though.

And go visit family if they're close, they'll understand :)

Well don't know any of them well .. will bypass the neighbours next door as one of the kids already annoyed her by throwing s small cardboard box in their bin 😂So she is not our biggest fan but don't know the rest really as in direct ones

If you know the people ( even if you just say hello in passing) knock and ask, at worst they will say no and that never hurt anyone!

If you knocked on my door and explained the situation I would be more than happy to help make your little one happy

I know if one of mine asked I'd have been expecting TT weekend anyway and would certainly want to know if I could help a neighbour who's child was in hospital.

The child is 4 ! How the heck can that be cheeky for the OP to knock a day or so before, provide the sweets and then take her a day or so before Halloween ?!

YANBU at all OP and I would gladly participate in it.

I hope the surgery is a success.

I don't think its rude to ask but I wouldn't hold out much hope. They might not want to commit to being at home at the time you'd want to call round. Has there been much trick or treating on your road in previous years? That might be an indication on whether your neighbours would be up for it.

There's lots of National Trust places and the like doing Halloween trails around me this week. Could there be something like that on near you? Or maybe rather than trick or treating on your street, go a bit further to your friends and family? Even if its only one or two stops, I'm sure they'd love to see DD dressed up and make a fuss of her.

DH used to do that - check that it was OK and take a few sweets. Often people added their own treat too! There was one lady who didn't want to as she didn't like opening her door in the evening, and we fully understood.

Offer the sweets in return, but don't leave them with students too far in advance! Lovely idea though.

Ah....I have just remembered! It is a "celebration" of death and of all things revolting. That's why we involve children in it.

Lovely idea, if you asked me I would offer to dress up DD and come with you (she's only 1, so wouldn't need any sweets!)
