to be irritated by men on dating sites who are hurtling towards (and sometimes, past) 40...

..and yet still specify that all they are interested in meeting is women in their 20s with no kids?

Do they seriously think there is an underground bunker somewhere just outside the M25 full of nubile 21-year-olds just gagging to fondle their balding pate?

Gah.

Yes, I see sue also went out with the same chap .

I felt like leaving him my compact mirror so he could take a peep at his huge nose.

I knew men who were ten years older than he was who were in FAR better shape than he was.

ChelseaDagger · 11/04/2007 22:50

lol harman

Has anyone ever been on a date with someone they met on a dating site? I've considered it but think it would be really cringey and awkward, especially the first date.

lou33 · 11/04/2007 22:59

i have , but i know this sounds like i am lying, but i wasnt on there looking for a date, but i was trying to get people to go to another site , for traffic purposes

so i would have to chat to them and link them to this site

they were ok

one of them was wonderful

lou33 · 11/04/2007 23:00

meant to add i only met the ones who seemed to wnat to get to know me, rather than asking me if i wanted a big dick in my arse

ChelseaDagger · 11/04/2007 23:03

Thanks Lou. I registered for a free site once and the only men who had photos on their profiles were so cheesey looking with up-their-own-arse descriptions of themselves. Lots of pictures of men wearing sunglasses posing on yauchts in their swimming shorts. Yuk!!!

ChelseaDagger · 11/04/2007 23:03
Shock
expatinscotland · 11/04/2007 23:05

I worked for this doctor who used them.

This man had a very serious mental illness, which he wasn't properly treating (a severe case of bipolar disorder).

He lied so big style on the site, too.

lou33 · 11/04/2007 23:07

you do need to be selective

most of them are not worth the hassle

like i said i was only on the site to whore out another place, and i had to stop after a couple of weeks, i started feeling a bit soiled by the comments i was sent

it just wasnt worth the increase in traffic

ChelseaDagger · 11/04/2007 23:11

That's so out of order lou. I've been in chat rooms and have been disgusted by some of the usernames and 'chat-up' lines used. Wouldn't expect that on a dating site though.

lou33 · 11/04/2007 23:14

oh yes
you see a lot of men use them as a way fo a quick leg over

which is fine as long as you both agree

but i wont reply to the kind of unsolicited crap i have been sent

well actually i did in the end

i used to say if you want to talk to me fine, and please look at this site, but do NOT ask me if i like young cock, do anal , strip for cam, want to have you spunk over my glasses or anything similar, as i will not talk to you

lol

turquoise · 11/04/2007 23:15

I am mystified by what these old codgers think they would have to talk about with a 20 year old. I have a 40 year old male friend whose girlfriends get progressively younger, and he was on a date recently with a 22 year old () - but even he gave up fast when on asking what her favourite tv show was she replied 'Hollyoaks'! pmsl.

ChelseaDagger · 11/04/2007 23:18

I bet they wouldn't dare speak to any woman like that in real life.

PMSL at Hollyoaks.

lou33 · 11/04/2007 23:18

i've been out with someone that young

actually he was 21!

expatinscotland · 11/04/2007 23:19

maybe he's not doing a lot of talking w/her.

ChelseaDagger · 11/04/2007 23:21

Maybe I'm very old fashioned but I can't imagine any woman wanting casual sex with a tosser who speaks to them like that. I know I'm a bit of a prude anyway, but that is such a turn off even if you were looking for no-strings sex. I think it's totally out of order.

lou33 · 11/04/2007 23:23

no i wouldnt entertain anyone who spoke to me like that

chocolattegirl · 11/04/2007 23:38

It makes me laugh that they think that the disparity between their pic and their actual appearance wouldn't be remarked upon by whoever they'd tempted out on a date.... but internet dating isn't all that bad.

Some sites are more salubrious than others

lou33 · 11/04/2007 23:39

there really isnt any point in lying about stuff like that imo, because you will get caught out

Snaf · 12/04/2007 08:33

Agree, chocolate girl

Have never had messages like the ones Lou's received (!!) and would never use a free site or a 'chat room' anyway. Full of sad old pervs. My profile is also just a wee bit on the sardonic side and that seems to put off most of the chancers

It's just when browsing that you come across all these guys who obviously think they're God's gift. (Plus they all think that white-water rafting makes them a more interesting person, which I simply can't get my head around...)

sorry never did get back on last night. I never had the neve to tell him I'd seen his entry - felt so sorry for his wife though. Expat - I would laugh if it was the same man (slightly manically as I can't bear the thought that some other poor woman might have had to put up with him)

lou33 · 12/04/2007 10:02

the best of the worst ones are currently about to go online on the site i was getting traffic for

marieg76 · 12/04/2007 10:07

A friend of my husband is pushing 40 and won't even consider anyone about 30. He's not interested in women "with a past" as he calls it so no kids, no divorces etc. Also, they've got to be above 5'2 as he's quite tall so he thinks they'll look ridiculous together otherwise. Additionally, he hates English girls so Meditteranean women are preferred as they are "really into cooking and cleaning".

He wonders why he is single... He's all yours ladies!

suejonez · 12/04/2007 10:23

well the only bit of that I comply with is the height so don;t think I qualify! Think you should set him up on a blind date with me to teach him a lesson!

marieg76 · 12/04/2007 10:26

sue - I wouldn't wish him on anyone - not even an enemy

He's not only got all of this criteria, he actually thinks he's pretty much perfect. DH and I are moving house having renovated our current place (second time we've done this and we've done fairly well out of it). DH was talkign with this bloke at the weekend regarding our next move and he basically said that we didn't know what we were doing and that it really was about time that we "learned about Guildford". So kind of him to provide such patronising advice when not needed or requested.

ARe you still interested?

lou33 · 12/04/2007 11:42

lol i live near guildford, i could sort him out for you!
