To think that Jacob Rees - Mogg is an effing hypocrite

It has been in the papers today that Somerset Capital Management an investment company owned by Jacob Rees - Mogg has a large investment in a company called Kalbe Farme who manufacture pills used in abortions
The Somerset MP is against abortion even in rape cases, but profits from the sale of pills widely used in illegal abortions in Indonesia

I think it is more hypocritical to be anti abortion except in rape cases.

He believes abortion is wrong. I disagree with him, but he is absolutely entitled to hold that view.

Njordsgrrrl · 01/10/2017 22:57

WTF? I knew it anyway but that confirms that JRM is a fucking cunt of the highest order.

Squirmy65ghyg · 01/10/2017 22:58

Ugh. Bastard.

ILoveMillhousesDad · 01/10/2017 23:00

Mogg is an absolute fucking twat. Make no bones about it.

I put him in the Boris category.

Funny on HIGNFY, but dig a bit deeper, and their voting history screams TWAT.

YesVeryGoodVeryStrong · 01/10/2017 23:01

His moral compass is all over the fucking shop.

Njordsgrrrl · 01/10/2017 23:11

Since Dave and George have slunk off into the shadows with their millions, my "first against the wall" fantasy targets have been very variable but he is a really strong contender.

Sparklesocks · 01/10/2017 23:14

Yes it's gross, morally he's opposed but happy to profit regardless? Not sure how he can justify that as the strict catholic he claims to be.
He also doesn't believe in birth control and has six kids or something, but bragged that it's never changed a single nappy or generally done anything resembling hands on parenting. Gross.

BewareOfTheToddler · 01/10/2017 23:16

That's disgusting - assuming it's true. I agree he is entitled to his views (although I consider them somewhat extreme in modern Britain) but he should live by his professed principles, not saying one thing and profiting from another.

NameChanger22 · 01/10/2017 23:16

I've tried to understand why Mogg is anti-abortion. I can't get my head around it, it's not as if he gives a shit about people.

😁

That is the best thing I have read all day! So true PP!!
😁

Esker · 01/10/2017 23:20

He's anti abortion so that he can talk about it on Good Morning Britain and get himself trending all over the place and raise his profile. Who knows whether he genuinely is against abortion or not? It just helps him to become better known, increasing his chances at becoming next Tory leader.

Njordsgrrrl · 01/10/2017 23:22

I once taught in a school where a prominent Catholic MP had children.

Colleague said, "he thinks his DD is looking forward to starting drama club"

She'd been going two years Grin

Fekko · 01/10/2017 23:27

Does he know?

Poshindevon · 01/10/2017 23:35

fekko yes Rees-Mogg does know that his company invests in the company that makes the pills.
He commented in the newspaper article that he doesnt like it but thats the way of the world.

Ceto · 01/10/2017 23:49

Poor man. Forced to make money out of something he doesn't like because "that's the way of the world". How he must suffer.

toffee1000 · 01/10/2017 23:59

Anti abortionists aren't really "pro-life", they're pro birth. They're usually the same kind of person who'd try and restrict any and all help for people once actually born.

KidLorneRoll · 02/10/2017 00:04

Anti abortionists are just fucking arseholes, and this particular one is a massive hypocrite to boot. A tory, in other words.

DJBaggySmalls · 02/10/2017 00:09

Yadnbu. What happened to 'the love of money is the root of many evils?'

'Jacob Rees-Mogg has been branded "extreme" after revealing he is opposed to abortion in all circumstances, including rape and incest.''
''On same-sex marriage, Mr Rees-Mogg said: "I'm a Catholic and I take the teaching of the Catholic church seriously in matters of faith and morals.''

Valentine2 · 02/10/2017 00:17

I really do wonder about the hypocrisy of anti abortionists in general. But men like Mogg are beyond my comprehension. he is earning money doing something that is strictly against his faith. What does that tell you about a person?

beluga425 · 02/10/2017 00:23

He is amoral and dangerous.

Maursh · 02/10/2017 05:33

Did any of you actually read the story before forming an opinion???!!

The drug in question is for stomach ulcers - it is used (illegally) by some locals to bring about abortion.
Rees-Mogg does not personally own the company - his investment company invests client money into it in accordance with the clients policy.
It is a little bit like saying: your bank own shares in Ford and cars can kill people - you are immoral.

Ridiculous journalism!

Hayesking · 02/10/2017 05:38

Thanks Maursh. Just came here to say the same thing.

MotherOfDragons22 · 02/10/2017 06:35

We get it mumsnet. You don't like him. Get over it. I'm sure you would be pretty miffed if someone took issue with your opinion.

flumpybear · 02/10/2017 06:55

He's a self serving prick!

He's also a typical self serving type to use his 'faith' as a screen to be a sanctimonious fuck wit when really he's just doing all sorts of things the church, or God (if Mogg really had to stand and face god about his conduct). - disclaimer - I'm agnostic by the way!

I'd call him a 'pick and mix' catholic

flumpybear · 02/10/2017 06:58

Just realised I didn't finish my sentence above lol

He's doing things the church or 'God' would basically disapprove of, but tries to his behind his catholic shield - if he really faced judgment day I suspect he'd come out on the wrong side!!! Elevator down to the basement Shock
