AIBU to think the singing of the Jeremy Corbyn song was quite sweet

I was quite moved to hear all those Labour Party faithfulls singing that ode to Jeremy Corbyn. I bet Teresa May is wishing she inspired half that devotion from her party faithful.

Sweet, disturbing, one and the same right?

Oldie2017 · 28/09/2017 17:44

I am a huge May fan. I think we are lucky to have Jeremy C. I think it unlikely he will lead Labour to victory at the next election. If some people like him that's fine.

backOffSunshine · 28/09/2017 17:44

Is he dead? On the same day as Hugh Heffner?

We lost a great man today.

LineysRun · 28/09/2017 17:44

Sweet and disturbing, like the new Cadbury's chocolate recipe.

Fekko · 28/09/2017 17:45

I find it toe curling and a bit of idol worship.

ArcheryAnnie · 28/09/2017 17:46

Weird and culty.

I'm a Labour voter. Jerusalem was much better.

SerfTerf · 28/09/2017 17:48

What Archery said.

What's happened to my Party is disturbing.

fluffiphlox · 28/09/2017 17:50

I find all that uncritical adulation a bit creepy not to say Trumpesque.

Fekko · 28/09/2017 17:50

It's become quite rude, shouty and racist. And a bit nasty tbh. Not the party I was brought up on.

formerbabe · 28/09/2017 17:50

I find it nauseating.

I loved it. For once in my life, politics feels exciting and relevant to me.

Fekko · 28/09/2017 17:54

Oh, is this one going to pop too? Off the feminism section to discuss captain bunny's demise.

Valentine2 · 28/09/2017 17:56

We would let our youth have sex, choose universities, decide careers, get mortgages and jobs and pay taxes. Yet, we don't want to trust them them to really like a leader and sing for him? Right.
This is the age of social media. Everyone saying they find it creepy should mainly just grow up a bit may be? Hmm

Fekko · 28/09/2017 18:00

Who said this is an age thing? My 13 year old (who was taught the red flag by his mum in primary school) was asking why they were singing instead of debating.

And, believe it or not, some of us oldies actually - shock horror - work in social media. No singing required

bravobravo · 28/09/2017 18:03

The same people who thought the singing of Jeremy Corbyn was culty were also freaked out with members singing Happy Birthday to Dianne Abbott - I say move aside and get over your bitter self.

Valentine2 · 28/09/2017 18:05

Did I say it is an age thing? I said it is a growing up thing AND the singing public is mainly youth.
Don't twist my words please. And let the youth choose whatever they feel right. They have that right.

Fekko · 28/09/2017 18:07

Again you are saying the youth. Is it just the young singing then? You just said it twice!

No problems with happy birthday. Or is tat just for young people too?

lummox · 28/09/2017 18:14

I find it creepy. I'm not clear what you mean when you say that I should grow up a bit Valentine2?

Paperclipmover · 28/09/2017 18:17

I thought it was very human, sweet isn't a word I'd have used but happy to go with it.
I was there.
I am old.

meditrina · 28/09/2017 18:19

It made me cringe.

And I think Corbyn's leadership is the best thing that's happened to the Labour Party in ages.

But I worry that it's becoming cultish.

Bekabeech · 28/09/2017 18:20

I found it all creepy and culty. I also looked at some MPs joining in the singing and thought it showed just what they will do for power.

thatdearoctopus · 28/09/2017 18:24

I had to switch over when watching the bbc's news coverage of the conference.
Couldn't bear to watch any more.

Neolara · 28/09/2017 18:26

Agree that it is weird and culty.

Madbengalmum · 28/09/2017 18:27

Cringey nonsense, not worth the airtime.
