Basically all guests will be paying to go to the wedding so the bride and groom will be paying 2k of their own money and the rest will be paid for by guests..,

I’m not sure whether this is genius or awful. We had a lovely wedding last year but it was all paid for by us and I wonder if they’ll ask for cash instead of gifts 😂

Well, plainly the invited guests don't mind, since they've had a positive response. £150 for three nights all in is pretty cheap, but the misanthropist in me says, "Three bloody nights for a wedding?" Two, I could manage...

Thanks for the link - sorry but I think it's really crass. A wedding should be hosted by the bride and groom l, and if they can't afford a fancy wedding they should have something more modest.

I'd probably go if I was invited but I don't think it's good manners from bride and groom at all.

3 nights for a wedding? I wouldn't (couldn't) manage that anyway with DCs and school. Does the £150 mean they guests don't have to buy presents? I wouldnt be buying one after paying that.

I sold it to them a bit like an all-inclusive holiday, so all the food and drinks will be incorporated in that cost

What's not to like about this? Everyone on site, no faffing about getting lifts and taxis, everyone has time to chat and meet up with old friends, lovely setting, delicious food, things to do. Bride and Groom get terrific wedding. Venue gets a good deal and full occupancy. I think this guy is a genius and should be made chancellor of the exchequer. I expect they will get a few moaners saying unfair that their five year old who eats only rice crackers and doesn't swim is having to pay the same as a ten year old who eats horses for breakfast and swims like a dolphin.........

I was all set to say cheeky but actually he is right, £150 is great for 3 nights plus several meals and some alcohol. I spent £150 just on a room for one night at my brothers wedding and I still had the present, food and alcohol to pay for.

My first thought was cheeky fucker, but having looked at the details, £150 for a 3 night stay at the venue sounds great value.

I guess the only quibble I'd have would be if I couldn't (or didn't want to ) stay for the full 3 days.

Sounds perfectly fine to me. If the headline was "wedding guests pay £150 for accommodation to stay over at wedding venue" then it wouldn't be a story of course. The B&G are paying for their own clothes and food, drink for everyone so whats the problem?

You can easily spend £100+ on a hotel room for just one night for a wedding and have to pay hotel prices for drinks.

3 night accommodation plus food and drink for £150. How shit is the food and drink going to be? I can't think of many places that offer rooms for £50 a night!

I think that's brilliant! It cost us more just for the hotel room at the last wedding we went to and there wasn't a spa

I think it's actually a fab idea and a bargain price . We pay about £120-£150 for a hotel room at friends weddings.

I have been to several weddings where all I have had to pay for is my oyster card PAYG and a gift.

Why not just sell tickets. No one is entitled to a weekend away wedding. If you want it, pay for it yourself.

I live in S E Asia, huge weddings (I have been to one with 1500 guests). It is a kind of 'comes around, goes system). No toasters as presents 😀, money - about what you have eaten/drank. It makes sense.
