To think this is a good enough dinner..

Okay, so dinner for the family was (6 year old and toddler);

  • unlimited homemade lentil soup
  • unlimited warm crusty bread and butter
  • unlimited cooked ham

So the 6 year old had 2 big bowls, lots of shredded ham added and few bits of bread and butter

I think that's a perfectly good dinner for a school night (especially given I work)

MIL thinks it's not enough at all....AIBU?

Totally fine.

iamUberA · 01/09/2017 17:37

I want some..

Ellapaella · 01/09/2017 17:37

Yes totally fine.

Walkingdead11 · 01/09/2017 17:37

Yep, seems fine to me? I'd tell her to keep her sticky beak out!

Aquamarine1029 · 01/09/2017 17:37

Your MIL is crazy. Ignore her.

chickenowner · 01/09/2017 17:37

Sounds like a lovely dinner!

JuicyCake · 01/09/2017 17:37

Sounds lovely to me. Sort of thing my mother would have fed us, after school.

Runlovingmummy81 · 01/09/2017 17:38

Sounds lovely. If the kids enjoy it and they've had their fill, all good!

DelphiniumBlue · 01/09/2017 17:38

Sounds great! And I would guess pretty filling.

Ameliablue · 01/09/2017 17:38

Protein, carbs, veg all covered, seems fine.

Glittertwins · 01/09/2017 17:38

Sounds delicious

bridgetreilly · 01/09/2017 17:38

How vegetabl-y was the soup? That's the only thing I'd slightly question, is that it might need a few more green things.

Crunchymum · 01/09/2017 17:38

I don't class soup as a meal (I know that probably means IABU)

DubiousCredentials · 01/09/2017 17:38

Sounds like a stealth boast to me Wink

OuchBollocks · 01/09/2017 17:39

I have had a fucking hideous day and my DD is having a banana and some peanut butter on toast for dinner, Plus a few biscuits. Yours is hot, nutritious and nice. What's your MILs problem?

cutthegraa · 01/09/2017 17:39

Bread wasn't home made - just those part bake baguettes!! And easy soup bunged in slow cooker!

Why more greens?!

Give over.

MaidOfStars · 01/09/2017 17:43

What veg is in the soup?

MrsGB2225 · 01/09/2017 17:43

I'd be proud of that!!

MaidOfStars · 01/09/2017 17:44

AlternativeTentacle Cracking name!

cutthegraa · 01/09/2017 17:44

1kg of carrots and 2 large onions.

This is amazing I would be in heaven if my kids would eat this. I grew up with home made soup and bread for tea as it happens

mumofone234 · 01/09/2017 17:44

That's fine!

CatchIt · 01/09/2017 17:45

Ooh! I'm after a good lentil soup recipe if you fancy sharing... Grin

converseandjeans · 01/09/2017 17:45

I would be jumping for joy if my (fussy) kids ate something like that. What's it got to do with her anyway?!
