To never wear tights again

All they seem to do is fall down bobble get holes in. I'm yet to find a pair I love. I struggle with the whole denier thing. I want a denier that's opaque and you can't see any skin. Then a pair that's slightly more sheer but not seethrough any tips

Hold ups!

100+ denier opaque
40 denier semi-opaque

Et voila!

Grimmfebruary · 29/08/2017 14:48

Wear them inside out. Dunno how it keeps them up but it does!

Mushybanna23 · 29/08/2017 16:40

Brought two asos pairs to see what the quality is like

I buy M&S tights, they are the only ones I've found that don't fall down.
Are you sure you are wearing the right size? I'm 5ft8 so need to wear extra large app they fit correctly and are long enough.

I second hold ups - M&S do nice ones

If you want ones that stay up, Simply Be are quite good - they are extremely high waisted and come up to my bra line, but there is no annoying rolling down. Or just wear knickers over the top and pray you are not in an accident or fall over Grin

2littlemoos · 29/08/2017 16:46

New Look tights are pretty good. £5 a pair.

I think all tights bobble a little after a while when they are worn a lot which I guess is to be expected.

arousingcheer · 29/08/2017 16:47

I love the John Lewis/Waitrose 150 denier ones: www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-150-denier-polar-fleece-opaque-thermal-tights-black/p3241496

msrisotto · 29/08/2017 16:47

There's a thread discussing this very topic. Lots of us non tights wearers, join the revolution!

LakieLady · 29/08/2017 17:23

I always get mine in M&S, they last forever and keep in shape very well and I never find them slipping down or going wrinkly.

I think the ones I get are 70 denier.

littlemisssweetness · 29/08/2017 20:09

I wear another pair of black knickers over top to hold them in place 😂

SwedishEdith · 29/08/2017 20:20

Sainsbury's are good. Velvet touch or something. What do non-tights wearers wear in winter?

SunshineAndSandyBeaches · 29/08/2017 20:21

Knickers over the top! If it's good enough for super man...

squiz81 · 29/08/2017 20:21

Best tights I had last winter were from Primark. Try them before you write off tights forever.

iamyourequal · 29/08/2017 20:25

SwedishEdith - What do non-tights wearers wear in winter?
Trousers.

Mysteriouscurle · 29/08/2017 20:25

YADNBU. havent worn the horrible things for years. Hot sweaty uncomfortable and usually get twisted, fall down or get wrinkly at the ankles. Nasty horrible invention. Socks all the way here.

LadyPenelopeCantDance · 29/08/2017 20:26

I love Primark tights. I stock up on lots of pairs and don't mind if they bobble a bit as they are so cheap it's not a problem to replace. Not environmentally friendly, mind you.

SwedishEdith · 29/08/2017 20:28

Ah, of course. I only do trousers in summer.

charleyfarleysaunt · 29/08/2017 20:40

Another vote for a second pair of knickers over the top - I used to add tummy-tightening ones, but a friend said ordinary ones work and she was right... no more baggy hammock-ness going on here!

('Proper' knickers of course, I doubt a thing would be so effective, but happy to be corrected by any thong wearers out there!)

Nuttynoo · 29/08/2017 20:41

60 dernier Miss Polly tights from costco

100 dernier tights from M&S

abigailgabble · 29/08/2017 20:42

Falke only for me

abigailgabble · 29/08/2017 20:43

tights are fucking rank though i actually can't remember when i last wore them

GaryBarlowsTaxReturn · 29/08/2017 20:45

Wolford Matt opaque 80 denier. About £25 but should last you the winter. Wolford are the best make of tights imo. And I've worn a lot of tights!

Zaphodsotherhead · 29/08/2017 20:47

I find hold ups either slide down or cut off my blood supply (I have a varicose vein, and they make it ache).

Tights are okay if they are long enough and I wear pants over the top.

Leinlondon · 29/08/2017 20:47

Very pricey but I buy five or six pairs of Wolford tights each September and they normally last and still look decent in March. Big initial outlay but worth it as long as you wash them carefully.
