To be fed up of Instamums

Hmmmmx100 · 25/08/2017 22:56

I followed a few of the more well-known Instamums but got weary of the constant daily barrage of brand endorsements. I can't relate to people on £100k a year in Farrow & Ball houses. I just can't. So I had to unfollow em all, every one. AIBU to feel a bit miffed that these people are using the idea of sisterhood to make money? They're not our friends, they're just there to sell us stuff that we probably don't need anyway.

I really don't mean that negatively as I had my son a week after my 19th birthday and have had more. I went to uni with ds1.
I just mean she seems a career parent which I assume she would need to be with that many in quick succession.
I feel I should stop talking :/

Mumsytomy · 02/09/2017 18:58

I didn't mean my comment negatively either ☺️

She just seems to have such an inflated opinion about herself and her children. Like I said before, she never seems to portray them as normal children. They're always super gifted or amazingly beautiful.

Mumsytomy · 02/09/2017 19:04

I didn't mean my comment negatively either ☺️

Mumsytomy · 02/09/2017 19:06

Double post sorry. She is smug and annoying in her account but I'm sure she is a mum just doing her thing and very loving. Wait till all those kids are teenagers, they won't all be perfect.

yourhandfitswithmine · 02/09/2017 19:16

Interesting thread. MOD has been grating on me for an age so it's nice to see some people agreeing! She seems to think she's very important.

I don't like the woman who's house made her, I recall her doing a post ages ago about how much her house had gone up in value or something, actual figures. And she lives on the south coast, of course it's going to be £££. Bit braggy

I follow the lady with 8 children. I like her. I see others here don't as much but I notice upthread that someone was taking the piss out of her spelling. Come on. That's a bit harsh. She may have dyslexia or something. Thread was quite measured up until then I thought.

wannabestressfree · 02/09/2017 19:17

I feel for her a bit as she got taken for a ride by someone who she clearly thought a lot of- a big 'insta' who faked having cancer. She was clearly very hurt and I think she has family issues.
I sound like a member of her fan club. I am not but it doesn't take Einstein to read between the lines when your life is played out on there regardless of how clever/ cultivated your image is.

BubbleAnimal · 02/09/2017 19:32

I think this thread has been noted by a few. Just the public to private profile change, and the distinct lack of any posts or stories from a couple of those usually on it 24/7.

langkaw · 02/09/2017 19:44

Yes bubble. I've been thinking that too.

dollydimplenotsosimple · 02/09/2017 19:45

Who has gone private?

What's the insta name for the mum of 8?

Mumsytomy · 02/09/2017 19:47

I wasn't taking the piss out of her spelling. Obviously her blog is not managed by anyone else as she has spelt pregnant wrong. It's just all a kind of weird world where people can come across differently to how they intend and others viewing may notice things like that. She maybe dyslexic as is Jamie Oliver and it's good to see as clearly he writes and responds on his own account and is proud of who he is.

Mumsytomy · 02/09/2017 19:49

I felt really worried about asha pinder, what a sad world when to fit in and get attention she pretended she had cancer. I wonder how she is and her mental health. She clearly relied on social media support. I thought the whole thing was very sad

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 02/09/2017 19:53

The oD's two are quiet today.

Recovering from the jabs required for #mysterytour perhaps.

Hope twin with separation anxiety is recovering.

FuckingLoveCarbs · 02/09/2017 19:59

MOD, FOD and mother pukka have definitely seen it.

wannabestressfree · 02/09/2017 20:01

Yes I followed the whole asha pinder thing and then she disappeared. I only found out what happened from comments on posts that others had made. She really went the whole nine yards though and apparently even duped her family.
Very sad indeed.

user1470064958 · 02/09/2017 20:03

I wondered what had happened to Asha @Mumsytomy

How was it all exposed?

MainFlamingo · 02/09/2017 20:08

Asha Pinder was lying? Blimey I am totally and utterly shocked about that! I was in tears when I read her blog and Instagram

Mumsytomy · 02/09/2017 20:09

I just saw it on others accounts, most of the posts I saw were really quite unpleasant (I guess understandably by hurt friends) but someone had received a private message from her and either screenshot it in stories or shared it. As someone completely removed I thought it was really sad all round.

Mumsytomy · 02/09/2017 20:10

That made me question the price of social media.

ButtMuncher · 02/09/2017 20:16

I was following an instamum, but stopped when I realised how beautifully staged her photos were. Someone had CLEARLY had to have taken the photo of her and her son in order for it to be that clear, or even worse, she selfie sticked it. That for me was it. If I asked my DP to take a pic for me for instagram I'd be met with a resounding 'jog on, it's bullshit wrapped in shit' Grin

acoupleofdaysago · 02/09/2017 20:17

MOD, FOD and mother pukka have definitely seen it.

Oh but FOD apparently 'doesn't read' MN Grin

Fairylea · 02/09/2017 20:21

I am sure MoD and FoD have had a good read of this, they must have. If they really haven't then they are pretty silly- "we" are their target market aren't we?

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 02/09/2017 20:26

FoD is 2017's Richard Madeley; all knowing and happy to discuss anything female related; he is surrounded by so much oestrogen after all Smile, work that quiff Si

user1470064958 · 02/09/2017 20:32

They've definitely seen it!! A few friends work in PR and say the fees for promotions and #ads from said 'instamums' are now astronomical. Because of their 'popularity' and reach.

And the asking for recommendations may as well be directly asking for freebies.... beyond cringe.

Love Suzie Verrill she's genuinely funny and seem very aware of how fortunate she is.
